North Carolina has "Precinct Meetings" which are like caucuses - delegates are elected at these meetings which occur through February and into March on all kinds of different dates throughout the state.
These Precinct Meetings are the bottom rung of the ladder to vote for, or be elected as, a delegate in the County, District, and State Conventions.
The more supporters we get to the precinct meetings the better chance of a higher delegate count from NC in a brokered National Convention.
Delegates elected at these Precinct Meetings in February/March are eligable to participate in the County Convention (Feb/March)
Delegates elected at the County Convention are eligable to vote for, or be elected as, delegates to the District Convention (april) or State Convention (June)
Our Presidential Preference Primary Election is May 5th where Independents can vote. That is a whole different story than these delegate conventions. The Primary is an actual election. The vote is proportioned among the 69 delegates and they are bound according to the % of the Primary vote the candidates received (unless released in a brokered national convention...)
EDIT: if there vacant seats at your county convention you may still be able to fill one of those seats, so check your county and attend your county convention if you miss your precinct meeting or have an unorganized precinct. (i know you can at least vote in county convention if your precinct was unorganized and sent zero delegates to county)
