PPP shows how caucus speeches will be most effectively broken down.

Look at the numbers. Talking about foreign policy in your caucus speech is as effective as talking about immigration. The voters in IA do not care. Yes, I know it is tied to Paul's economic plan, yes I understand it sets Paul apart from our competition, but people do not care.

If you were selling a car to someone living in the northern part of Alaska you wouldn't spend your time talking about how great the air conditioning system is would you? No you would focus on what matters to that potential buyer. A caucus speech is a sales pitch. You focus on the features and benefits of what is important to that voter and the polls clearly show us that it is the economy first and foremost. No matter how much YOU think foreign policy is important, your potential swing voter does not care. So don't waste the time talking about something that is not going to persuade the voter to change his decision. Paul is very strong on the economy and has a sound bite plan that is very strong with the voters. Spending time talking about anything else is simply foolish.

No doubt the establishment wants Ron Paul to shut up about foreign policy: Decades of endless illegal undeclared wars, lying about WMDs, empire building, history of propping up dictators, blowback, 900 bases in 130 countries, over 1 million dead Iraqis, 5,000 dead troops, secret torture sites, 4 trillion dollars wasted on illegal wars, billions on foreign aid, the billion dollar embassy in Iraq … spending time talking about these things is “simply foolish” Ron and is “not going to persuade the voter to change his decision.”

PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE - the mainstream GOP kool aid drinkers are not going to be converted on his foreign policy on CAUCUS night!

*shakes head*

Those of you who believe that came from the left of center, am I correct?

Ron Paul supporters know that economics and foreign policy are combined. Ron Paul supporters know wars are unsustainable. But you are never, EVER going to win that pissing match in the short time you have on caucus night.

Focus on what WILL bring them to Dr Paul. His consistency, his honesty, his compassion, his stance on abortion, his promises to cut 1 trillion from the budget. But please for the sake of Iowa do.not think you're going to magically convert neo-cons on RP's foreign policy during a caucus stump speech! If they are pro-war going in - you're not going to convert them in one evening! It falls right into their trap!

The extent of foreign policy discussion should be getting out of Afghanistan, making sure we don't get in such a mess again, and taking the trillions of dollars we'd save and investing it in America. That's Ron Paul's economic stimulus...getting us away from sending money overseas and to defense contractors.

That'll get a big reaction from the Paul fans in the crowd, and is a winner across the board. Most people want us out of Afghanistan. That's how you win on foreign policy. You're not going to win too many voters just on that, but it's part of the whole narrative of cutting spending and cutting income taxes without running up more debt, putting Americans back in control of their livelihoods and rights, and returning government to its proper role as protector of the people, not dictator to the people.

Keep it general, that's what I would do if I was fortunate enough to be able to make a caucus speech tomorrow.

The pro-war neocon supporters are now a small minority and shrinking by the minute. At this point in the game they are almost irrelevant. Most Americans… the whole world is sick of war-mongering. And when Ron Paul gets up there with his anti-war-mongering message in front of a packed house it will be devastating to the establishment. They are terrified and you can see it in the faces of almost every mainstream reporter. This is very exciting to observe.

I'm assuming you live in a blue city in a blue state and NOT in conservative country? Because where I live in Indiana (with much of the same demographic as Iowa) neocon support of the wars is still going strong - especially in the over 50 crowd.

Again. Look at the poll results here and elsewhere. Foreign policy is not an issue that people care about. If they did you talk about it, but they don't so you don't address it. Talk about the economy because that is what will sway voters. Stop thinking what YOU think is important is what others should think is important.

I would focus on a balanced budget within three years and the only plan to save s.s. and medicar for people dependent on it. Also focus on consistency ,vision and a record to prove it. Wouldnt hurt to mention the whole dr and family man thing.

Stop thinking what YOU think is important is what others should think is important.

Ron Paul believes what HE thinks is important is what others should think is important. He doesn’t structure his speeches according to what others think is important but according to what he thinks is important. But many here are not alone… the establishment press thinks he should tone down his foreign policy message as well but he can’t because it’s all interlinked. He’ll just keep saying exactly what he’s been saying as should those who represent him which is perfectly fine by me but not so for everyone.
