PPP: Paul slowly trending upwards in Texas

Folks, please remember that Texas Republicans elected Rick "adios mofo" Perry as Governor - *three* times. Lower your expectations.

Ron needs to carpet bomb Texas ad nauseum with Mitt Romney's past record of gun-grabbing, being pro-abortion and big spending and contrast it with Ron's support of the 2nd Amendment, pro-life movement, consistently voting against unbalanced budgets and American sovereignty. Contrast how Ron has always wanted to abolish the Federal Income Tax(a very popular position in a state like Texas) and how Romney was against repealing the state income tax in Massachusetts.

RP might not be the ideal guy in the eyes of a standard Texas GOPer but I can't imagine they'd back a New England Rockefeller type who supported those things over a right libertarian. This is where Ron needs to emphasize his more conservative side emphatically and hit Romney hard on his flip-flopping.

Do you have a link to Romney being pro-choice? I showed a former Santorum supporter who will be voting Romney in WV that video from 2002 where he is defending a womans right to choose IN MASSACHUSETTS. This was her reply:

"He probably would never have been elected in Mass. as a pro-life candidate. I'm convinced that his stance now is with pro life. If you listen closely, he says he will not change the pro choice laws there, not that he is pro choice. I think he knew it was lights out for him if he claimed to want to run in Mass. as a pro life candidate."

There is a clip on youtube that shows him emphatically supporting the choice position in a 1994 Senate debate with Ted Kennedy. He collaborated with NARAL as governor of Massachusetts. There is absolutely nothing pro-life about Mr. Romney's record despite his convieniently timed conversion to the pro life position prior to the 2008 Republican nomination.

That's herand the pro-life movement's problem in this race. I have no doubt that Mittens is using the pro life position for political expediency. He can claim to be personally pro-life until he's blue in the face but records and words don't lie. If he didn't have the courage to say I'm pro-life as governor then why would I trust him to actually grow a pair as president. Contrast this with Dr. Paul who has consistently advocated repeal of Roe v. Wade through legislation and allowing states to determine their positions which will do far more immediate good than hoping for the Supreme Court to save the day.

Whatever happened with that SuperPac in TX that was running ads supporting Ron Paul in SC? Sure wish they were on board now running ads in TX.

So basically she doesn't mind voting for a flip-flopping liar? What's the guarantee that he'll do anything that he's saying he'll do; he's essentially Republican Obama, & by the way, Obama also made a lot of promises but delivered little so how does one judge a person future's course of action if their past is so murky?

Longer ones

Most people are retarded and vote for style over substance. Hate to put a damper on things, but what can I say :( Still, we have to aim high and push as hard as we can.

There are a lot of Texas Republicans not on the RP radar..farmers, ranchers, roughnecks, bikers, etc. There are a lot of evangelicals in Texas...personally i am not one..but there are a lot and their pastors preach a lot about those Islamo-fascists and how we have to protect Israel. Thats what makes up a lot of GOP voters here. Dont forget this is the state that gave you Karl Rove, Phil Gramm, Tom DeLay and enough Bushes that we have parks and airports named after them.

Many voters have one single issue more important than any other even if they are not pure single issue voters. For many, including me and a lot of people in Texas, this is the second amendment.

GOA rates politicians on this issue and out of 435 house members,8 are rated A+,less than 2%.Out of 32 Texas house members one,Ron Paul is rated A+.Mitt Romney is rated D-,one half step up from an F.

This should be exploited in every way possible,in every commercial,in every town hall or rally in Texas until the primary.
This is not pandering,it is stating the simple truth.

Has there been an update here in Texas? I'm trying to find various delegate scenarios for a brokered convention.

Texas primary is May 29. Texas state RPT convention is June 7-9.
