Positive story from Nevada convention

On the first day of the convention A friend of mine and I were lucky enough to get two seats in the front row to the left. All to the right of me and behind me were Paul supporters, Everyone to the left of me were Romney supporters. Throughout the day of being civil with one another and getting them to agree to points Paul stands for a woman to my left asked what would it take for Paul supporters to consider Mr. Romney. I and the other Paul supporters broke down our problems with Mr. Romney from issue to issue. We started with the debt and the budget and the contrast between the two candidates. We went on to foreign policy enforcing the fiscal matters of it and also enforcing how strong we are with all of our troops home. We emphasized trust of the candidate to do what they campaigned for. After a nice 15 minute discussion you could see on their faces a realization that their is No one but Paul.

If we take our time and outline the differences people will come around.

I can't tell you how many people in Maine had the same experience, including myself. We are winning people at an exponential rate. Stay calm and civil, explain in detail why you are supporting Paul and only Paul. No name calling, no ad hominem attacks, no dirty convention tricks like Romney is pulling.

When they see for themselves, everything the media has said about Paul and how his supporters are trouble makers and disruptive to the process, etc is a complete lie.

They will start waking up, and its a beautiful thing to see.

That is a positive story.

Now if we only had 15 minutes with every one of them.... hopefully they will pass it on....

thanks for keeping us up to date with the convention!

Im glad to hear some positive things come out of the Convention in regards to the Romney Delegates.

About an hour before the Convention wrapped on Saturday, I was outside having a smoke chatting and a female Romney supporter going off to bed walks by in this big huff and started screaming at us on her way to bed. I dont need to repeat exactly what was said, but needless to say it was completely accusatory and full of profanity and total hostility. There were about 5 of us standing there just chatting when she walked by and expressed her opinions. I didnt join in in the replies as it was just one person and didnt want to gang bang her, but it was kind of nice to see the expression on her face when one of our small group put it back out that "We werent the ones caught cheating! Way to lead by example!"

Change of subject, there were a couple of times that some of the Romney Delegates asked me if he got the nomination, what would be the chances of me showing support to Romney. Really, its a fair question, but I had to reply honestly. I said I'd rather vote for "Marvin the Martian than to vote for a continuation of the Status Quo." and continued to explain it wasnt anything against them personally, not trying to start a fight. They did reply that not one of the Ron Paul supporters they tried to convert would even consider switching sides. That made me feel good. I didnt try to win over any Delegates, figuring they were probably about as dead set on supporting Romney as we are about supporting Paul. So although we somehow managed to get through without starting a fight, some of the remarks that were made against us were truly inflammatory and well worth defending. For example, their stance on the War on Drugs. They appear to be of the opinion that if drugs were legalized, I'd immediatly start doing drugs and they'd have to pay for my medical expenses. I think I understand now what it is about the Romney campaign that I like the least. They appear to be about as Socialistic in Nature as it can possibly get. "They hate us and want nothing more than to wipe us off the map, so we should wipe 'them' off the map first, the Constitution be Damned!" or "No! You shouldnt have the Right to Privacy because one of you nutjobs might abuse your Privacy and go out and hurt us because we're Mormons!" I dont wanna hurt any of them, but the way they think appears to be more Paranoid than they accuse us of being. I wont even bother to try to make a defense to their statements because all I would be doing is preaching to the choir here, but the point of this is there were some extremely antagonizing remarks made, that, if said anywhere else, there would be those of both sides that would have started a fist fight. Not as major as a riot as any disagreements would have been between the two individuals.

I know it took a lot of effort to bite our tongues as much as we have. Although we couldnt hold back all of our remarks, but at least nothing turned violent. That was a very tense situation for everyone, so thank you to everyone on both sides that contained their frustrations and kept things peaceful.

Going to War to obtain Peace will always end with Continued Violence.

I didn't do so well on day 2 when I went back to my seat. A romney supporter was screaming that all these Ron Paul people were really Obama supporters and should be thrown out. Cooler heads did not prevail this time and I stated rather loud that "Ron Paul is the farthest thing from Obama. If you want to look at who supports Obama you can look no further than Romney ya Bitch!I think I will sit somewhere else today." I regret not handling this better.

On a lucky note I ended up sitting next to one of our elected National delegates.

We like Fire because it can keep us warm, and it has so many practical uses to us. But we show respect to Fire because when it is out of control, it can be Dangerous. The Romney Delegates are much like Fire, they need to be shown respect because they are Dangerous. That is how we keep them from being Out of Control and burning us all.

+rep, very well done.

I wish I could debate politics well. I suck at it, lol.

It's because people who support Romney are usually people who supported Bachmann... then Perry... then Cain... they have no strong convictions. Let them hear some, and they'll come over to the light ;)

is that NLP or something ? hehe, interesting.
