Positive Messages from Iowa (READ IT-- You won't be sorry)

I know everyone keeps saying everyone else is broke, but does anyone have any links? I'm really curious to see how much of a fundrasing bump mchuckathompson get. thanks.

I agree with the post, but . . .

I do agree with the other posters who mention the critical importance of a strong showing next Tuesday in New Hampshire.

If Ron places worse than 3rd, I think it will be a cause for REAL CONCERN. He MUST do well there.

For me the campaign can never end. I have learned what the constitution says. I have learned the vital importance of the rule of law. I have been sold on peace as a better way to spread love and prosperity than war. I have vowed to never, never vote for a candidate that violates these principles again. And I will continue this campaign to spread a better way, a more godlike way if you will, to those around me. No matter what happens in New Hampshire the campaign will grow from here.

Fred's Roll

Great analysis. The only thing I disagree with was your comments about Fred Thompson. He outperformed expectations and we need him to. He dilutes the war vote.

Don't quit now Fred. You're on a roll.

Good points. Washington wasn't built in a day, and it won't take a day to pare it down, either.

I think it's a promising victory for us. A month ago, RP was at 2% of the votes. He will at least start to get more MSM exposure. The message will carry itself.

Thanks for the post. Good stuff. I mean, 3rd and 4th at 13% and 5th at 10%...
I was really hoping for 3rd but it's not like theres a big difference between them.

Keep up the positivity! We need to keep the Ron Paul message optimistic.

We are the Hope for America! We need to continue looking forward and reaching out to voters with our optimism and hope, not pessimism.

Ron Paul did better than predicted, and his message is obviously resonating, what with Huckabee stealing most of his talking points. Ask any Republican and they're going to be for securing the borders, for lowering taxes. When you lay out the facts for them regarding the country's financial situation, they really start to come around.

But what is important is to remain focused and hopeful. We need to emphasize that our message is popular, but many don't know it yet. But when they see how much fun we're having, how happy and enthusiastic about our candidate we are despite the overwhelming odds, they'll want to be a part of it.

Great job everyone, let's keep fighting! Fight for Ron Paul!

Good post.

I will stay with RP whatever happens. If I have to write Ron Paul on my ballot with a sharpie and be a troll on the establishments articles and forums, so be it.

I have to say, I agree 100%! Ron Paul is my one and only candidate. If I have to write his name on my ballot, that's what I'm doing.

I was, however, very excited by tonight's caucus. Double digits! Wiped the floor with Rudy! How much longer can we be ignored? I say we're in great position for New Hampshire and on.
I am energized to get out and canvas, hand out more slimjims...I'm on it! Let's go!

Good post.

I might add Iowans are happy with Bush. We aren't. We get the "Angry" vote by Iowa demographics. We don't get the people that want to stand by our wartime President, no matter how many neighbors kids get killed.

RP wants to get rid of farm subsidies. Iowa loves them and ethanol etc.

Its amazing we did as well as we did.

Americas mayor got spanked.

I want people to get involved, get proactive, and get voters to vote until Feb 5th. We wont know anything until then. I will stay with RP whatever happens. If I have to write Ron Paul on my ballot with a sharpie and be a troll on the establishments articles and forums, so be it.

Excellent points here too.

If nothing else, tonight should motivate us to do even more - and that especially means offline. Face to face conversations with potential new supporters is what will win this for us.

Are you registered as a volunteer at RonPaul2008.com? It's not the same thing as being a donor. Volunteers are needed - sign up tonight if you haven't already!

Next Steps

I agree that Ron Paul needs to do reasonably well in NH, given its penchant for fielding outliers (e.g. McCain, of course). Also, NH has a disdain for taxes not seen in some places. Expectations for NH are high for Ron Paul, and rightfully so. Thankfully, he recognizes his appeal there, and he has spent a good amount of time and effort there. The ground game (as in getting supporters to the polls, and following up with likely supporters throughout the process) needs to be more focused and aggressive. You cannot take these voters for granted! Don't forget this salient fact: Iowa and New Hampshire, as widely recognized "kingmakers" when it comes to the presidential process, are fickle. They expect and demand attention. If they do not receive this attention, they will throw their support to someone else who gives them the attention they crave.

Yes, keep it positive. This revolution ain't over. Only 3,800 votes from beating Thompson and McCain? I'd say that's a little less than fringe.

We got this moving and we'll keep it moving.

Don't let 100,000 people decide this election. Iowa is less than 1% of all the votes that will be cast. Iowa is basically the 1st pitch of 9 inning game.

Yeah, the ceremonial first pitch. It's all for show. Just wait till the real first pitch in New Hampshire.

We’re not going to have a clear winner going into Super Tuesday on Feb. 5th.

The Revolution Continues!

Great post!

Super-Tuesday will be a good test, and we will still have TX after that. I truly believe that if Ron Paul doesn't win before it, this is going all the way to the GOP Convention...

I don't post or bump much and I've only been here a few weeks. Deal with it.

This is the best post I've seen here since I got back here at 9:30 CST from my first ever REPUBLICAN PARTY MEETING so I can eventually become a delegate for RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT. Three weeks into what couls be the Mother of Revolutions and she has me going to uncomfortable neocon-infested party meetings. And sign bombing. And freezing my ass off for New Years Eve stumping in communist Madison, Wisconsin getting called a racist KKK supporter (sigh). And driving around risking cop troubles with two yard signs in my rear glass. Or tire slashing maybe even (happened last election here in good ole' Milwaukee).

WoW marches and tiresome Youtoob honorarium (except for a select few - aravoth, ghoberx, eliberty come to mind) and Digg this and endless bumps for blimps and moneybombs by the same people over and over again. I'd wager my last remaining testicle that most of you marching on warcraft havent set foot outside to do a sign bomb - over 200 people easy. I lurk this forum instead of my morning paper, the evening Simpsons/FamilyGuy syndis, and cleaning the house. So many here think this is just a focking game. Not to me it isnt. Ima 35 year old guy who's going to pay dearly for this country's mistakes. It makes me sick to my stomach, unproductive in my business, uninterested in dating and starting a family... a focking depression case. This is my shining star. This is our last chance to save this nation. I know it in my heart as I have known we are doomed my entire adult life.

ACTIVATE: Get into a meetup and GET IT ORGANIZED. Meetup.com is inflexible so create a website as a companion to it. Many of us (me too) will host it for nothing. Lots of people like the groovy-collective-disorder of grassroots. Show me where that works in business. You can't. Get managers and some order in your groups.

TRUTHERS: Leave 9/11 at the door. Others have said it here... 9/11 will be fast forgotten when you are standing in a soup line in a refugee camp. I thank the truthers for getting the early message out there. But really, I don't care about 9/11 anymore, it was terrible but I am over it. Ya, I said that.

GET OUTDOORS: While your sitting here reading this print some of the plethora of PDF's available and put them everywhere you can. I have Google RON PAUL signs covering the east side of Milwaukee's power poles. Hundreds. I did this myself, one person.

SO GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND GET HIM INTO OFFICE!!!

I apologize for the rant, but I have read so much here that many of you seem like family/friends. I needed my brief soapbox. Back to lurk mode.

I'm positive for one

Hey all!

Glad to see there's a positive thread here now.

I've been perusing this site for several weeks now, but haven't registered or posted until now. I'm the unusual demographic of not owning a television, highly idealistic, never voted, but am an active military officer. Ron Paul's the first and maybe the last person I'll vote for, even if it's a write-in.

I'm doing what I can for the campaign, within the limits of the UCMJ and U.S. code which limits my actions in partisan politics. I'm glad you're all here to help where I can't!!

So, stay positive everyone. This analysis is pretty good, and all of the results aren't even in yet.

This is a STELLAR performance on the part of this grassroots campaign! We will be given recognition as a player (I hope) on the news now. If not, well, we're no worse off...

Keep it up.

Thansk for your kind comments-- And a bit more perspective

I donated to this campaign the day it opened last January. If you had told me that we would have done 10% in Iowa, I would have laughed. That was beyond my wildest dreams. The revolution has grown tremendously. We are now a credible campaign and we have staying power. Our issues are out there and many of those gains are permanent.

Unlike our opponents, we don't just "win" by winning elections (although of course, that is our ultimate goal). We also win by getting our issues on the agenda and showing there is a place for principled, constitutional conservatives in American politics. We do that by credible showings in caucuses and primaries, just like we did tonight and like we will do in the future. We also do this by running candidates as Ron Paul Republicans, as we are already seeing in several congressional challenges this year.

We can't expect to change the system overnight, but we are building a great foundation. The campaign has proved it can get real votes. We will do fine in New Hampshire, but we do not need to win, or even place top 3 there. We need to build a national movement that lasts and spread that movement to all 50 states.

Tonight we took our first big step.
