Poll: Would you support a Presidential candidate with gay spouse?

I would not vote YES or NO based on the context of having a gay partner or not, but rather on whether the individual running was the best candidate.

If Ron was gay, I would have still supported him, based of course on the issues and where he stood on those issues, nothing to do with his sexual preference.

I would. Annise Parker, who is a lesbian, just became our mayor in Houston, the third largest city in the country. Parker has a partner and they have two adopted daughters and one foster son together. So I don't think our society is that far from the possibility of accepting a gay person as President.

What is the point of being married if your spouse is gay, are we to assume the candidate (other).spouse is straight or is also gay.
I find illogical question hard to answer.
If one was gay and the other straight, no to conflecting a relationship for someone who has the power to open the "football"

I would vote for ANYONE or ANYTHING that truly believed in the ideals of individual liberty and free markets. I don't care one iota about the person, only the liberty.

I dont care if he has a 15 guy gang bang in the oval office, as long as he gets rid of the Department of Education...

If that was the case, we would have to rename the oval office to the ORAL office.

On a serious note: I really dont understand most of you that posted in this thread. There are a few exceptions. But lets say some guy is a total flaming, oh fuck it, Richard Simmons runs for president and he puts EXECUTION OF ALL JEWS AND NON CATHOLICS on his ticket. Would you still vote YES or NO for him based on the fact that he was gay, or would you prefer to vote for or against them based on their stance on the issues?

Really not sure on this one. I'm not homophobic and I have no problem with gays...but I'm not sure if I could do it.

If I agreed with their policies and thought would represent me, what do I care with whom or how they have sex? I wouldn't sleep with most politician's wives if I had the chance, but that doesn't stop me for voting for them.

No, it would be a waste of time and hard earned money. Our present society wouldn't go for it. Maybe in 20 years...

 surprised by this comment because the same is said about RP.

Obviously the vote is on politics and policy first and foremost, but as I said earlier their comportment does have bearing on their ability to be a world leader. I don't think I'd care for Dr. Paul quite as much if he had Alex Jones' method of dealing with adversity, you know? The way Dr. Paul explains things and presents himself is classy and respectful. I would expect the person elected to be President of the USA to be able to refrain from overt displays of sexuality in public, regardless of their "orientation." As I said earlier: Al Gore shoving his tongue down Tipper's throat was gross. Al Gore shoving his tongue down Bill Clinton's throat would also be gross.

It depends on their stand on the issues of course!

Your question is worded a little awkwardly. I have to assume you are talking about a gay couple, where one is a candidate.

For a straight guy to have a female "bisexual" spouse would not be rare these days. And it could be unknown to the husband (history wise). It's really not an issue unless it's acted upon, and that applies to any monogamous married couple.

Absolutely. It blows my mind that someones sexual preferences are even an issue. Who gives a rats ass who someone screws.

I don't care if the presidential candidate is gay, straight, or transgender and gay or straight! If they are speaking the liberty message, then I'd support them.

Once a person becomes a bisexual, it is kind of hard to go back. The term bisexual I believe also implies that they are attracted to both sexes, but doesnt mandatorily mean that said person needs to act on those urges. Ask a married man when the last time he got laid by his wife was! But, he is still technically still straight.

Also, as long as neither member of the marriage has screwed someone else since they got married, I dont really care, but if they are screwing around on their spouce, it does show that they do not have the courage of their convictions, and the question of their moral character comes into play.

Otherwise, where they stick their dick, or what what in the twat, I could really care less, its none of my business.

Right. The fact that some people actually care about that crap makes me want to beat my head into a brick wall. I can't understand it and don't think I want to understand it...that level of person is too pathetic for me to register.

Of course, as long as he or she had a solid libertarian philosophy and didn't impose any belief system or set of values on others. What consenting adults do in their own homes is no business of mine.

after thinking thru what arianna huffington went thru, if there were a divorce and
the agrieved spouse were to run for public office, and had solid stances on the
issues of the day, if i agreed with the candidate's stances, i'd ignor the ex-spouse.

No.

To decide on a bi-sexual woman for your wife is foolish and would cast doubt onto whether the president would make even more foolish decisions later on...

I vote Republican because there are no libertarians to be found in my precinct.

Fo sho, the candidate could be a transvestite with a shemale lover for all I care. I consider myself a Republican. Either way, I'll vote for whoever is closest to The Constitution.
