Herman Cain Politico: Two women accused Herman Cain of inappropriate behavior.

He denies he ever sexually harrassed anyone and doesn't know anything about the payoffs.

Sounds like Cain just boldly called Politico's bluff and forced their hand. If this story has any credibility at all, Politico better be holding a royal flush and lay the cards on the table PDQ. Otherwise, Cain's Teflon just got that much stronger and this story will be dismissed as a weak hit piece attempt.

Actually, Cain's comments and Politico's story are compatible. Politico only said misconduct had been alleged, not that they knew it to have happened. And Cain may be unaware of the specifics of the settlement.

It will surely be interesting to see how Politico plays it now. I just don't believe they'd run a story without having an airtight case. Maybe they have a document signed by Cain authorizing the payout or something that would tottaly refute his "not knowing anything about a payout"

It was more 'nervous' and 'careful' than bold.

However, Drudge seems to think otherwise:

In any event, since the story's inception, there has been nothing but a lot of finger-pointing and conjecture with no empirical evidence to support any of the assertions on either side of the issue. It's time for some hard evidence to be presented or let the issue die.

If Politico emphasizes the issue is there was a settlement, and the two women were paid off, that should be enough. One journalist already said there were settlement documents that have been seen. The whole point of settling is to cut off a trial or full investigation to prove things one way or the other. The payment of a 5-figure sum clearly indicates the women "had something" on Cain that it took a payoff to bury. It's bad, folks.

Sex scandals (if true) tend to sink candidates better than finance or corruption ones, because 1) sex sins are simple to understand, politicians can't fog it up with legalese/details that bore or overwhelm the average voter, and 2) sex sins are personal, so the politician can't say "I don't know what my staffer did" or pass off the charge on someone else. I live near Weiner's former district, and know from that recent local scandal that this can't be wiggled out of, unless the charges can be PROVEN false. Cain can't do so, so he is about done.

Cain is directly denying knowing about the payoffs, which can be shown to be false if Politico has everything they say they have. Also, there is more than 2 allegations if what Cain has said before is true.

yeah, why isn't anyone tlaking about the future allegations Cain claims may be forthcoming?

All good points, and you can't conceal that the person is always lying about the issues and what he's said in the past when you prove he payoffs over lies too.

Weiner - your name is an unfortunate example.

Okay, there's some comments on the Blaze that are just making me sick. Apparently, this is all the fault of liberals, racists, and women.

1. Liberals aren't afraid of Cain. He dodges questions and the only "plan" he has is 9-9-9. No one has to be afraid of him, so why attack him?

2. Racist? Isn't that exactly what conservatives were accused of if Obama got any criticism at all? Pot, meet Kettle.

3. I forgot that women as a whole are greedy and want to dismantle the reputation of ever decent man ever. In psychology, students learn that almost all allegations of rape and sexual abuse or harrassment are legit, yet they also learn that people mostly blame women for wanting to make some fast money or to destroy a man's integrity. At least, that's what I was taught in psychology, but I'm not the kind of man to accuse any woman of lying about that kind of thing. Sometimes it happens, especially when the guy is rich (Michael Jackson), but Cain was a nobody to a lot of people at this point.

Not to mention, accusations such as those damage not only the accused's reputation, but the accuser's as well. Most people who are harrassed don't say anything, especially men, because of the embarrassment and stigma attached to it.

What does all this boil down to? STOP DEFENDING CAIN! He really goofed, and now he'll have to face up to it. If he didn't run around trying to downplay it, I'd have a lot more respect for him.

Liberals are not afraid of someone that wants to add another tax, supports the central bank - part of the ten planks of the Communist Manifesto, and supports gun control.

was this after he payed them to keep quiet?

“Mr. Cain has never sexually harassed anyone, period,” he said, adding that when he asked his boss of the allegations, he said “the story is not true. Bring me some facts. Bring me the accuser.”

Ha! Block is daring the accusers to come forward, knowing that they're under a confidentiality agreement. The balls on these guys.

Of all the candidates, the only candidate willing not to attack Herman Cain's personal life is Ron Paul because he knows he can defeat Herman Cain through his positions on different issues not by attacking his personal life! :D

Of the campaigns contacted by POLITICO, the only one to respond to the allegations was that of Texas Rep. Ron Paul. Paul’s campaign insisted that it would steer clear of attacks on Cain’s “character” — jabbing instead at his past support for bank bailouts and work with the Federal Reserve.

“We plan to beat Herman Cain on the issues, like his support for TARP and his cozy relationship with the Federal Reserve, not by assaulting his character,” Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton wrote in an email.

It is stated on the second page. No other campaign has said a thing! :D
