Politico: Ron Paul money machine heats up (explains where the money goes)

Stop mailings to multiple time donors like me.

Buy a plane and hire a pilot.

There were about 50 Papa John's pizzas in Concorde, NH... lol

Why this though:
...telemarketing ($255,000)

Sounds like a need for more Phone From Home - the campaign shouldn't need a telemarketing budget.

I suppose his license expired....

In Iowa the campaign rented out a YMCA summer camp.... :p

Come to think of it, they probably ate pizza...

We mostly had quiznos, kum and go, and arby's -- those were all adjacent to the main building we were staying at. Folks on the road probably ate gas station/convenience fair. We were allotted $15 a day for food, how we spent it was up to us. Any monies left over were returned to the campaign.

Haven't all of you folks gotten pizza to encourage you to stay at your local campaign HQ's?

Hmm, some will trust Ron Paul with a $3 trillion dollar budget, but not to run a campaign efficiently. Interesting... :p

I'm guessing it cost quite a bit to feed the hundreds of student volunteers who went to Iowa and NH in January.

I agree. There were also some of those folks in SC and CO and a whole bunch in NV. However, we only had around 100 in NH most of the time. I heard there were around 500 in Iowa. Plus the campaign often feeds locals that volunteer in the campaign offices.

I'd imagine the phonebanking expenses are spread between the "web dev" and "telemarketing" - PfH is custom coded and web based, the multiple physical call centers are industry standard...

The pizza charges are definitely for phonebanking volunteers; Nick's signature - lol

Again, I would recommend all people poring over reports to do in depth comparisons with other campaigns before joining in any circular firing squads...

jus sayin'

Paul’s staffers have a particular hunger for Papa John’s pizza, which in January made more than $2,100 off the campaign across eight states.

I looked up on OpenSecrets and the Founder of Papa John's and his wife (John Schnatter and Annette) each contributed $2,400 to RAND PAUL in 2010. Maybe the campaign should give them a call and see if they can work out a deal!!

Probably commission-based fundraising expenses.

knew that dude was a baller.

But wait a minute, Ron Paul isn't gonna adjust his message no matter what the polls say. 172k to tell the campaign that most Republicans still want a Patriot Act or a war on drugs or whatever, and Ron Paul is still gonna say the same things he's been saying for decades. How is polling then a good use of money/resources? Keep in mind, there are candidates out there who don't even have a pollster, and they've still been successful. Maybe if you're Mitt Romney and everything you say depends on the polls, okay...but the campaign needs to spend 172k on polls for a guy they know could care less what they say? That money should have gone towards making an electability, national defense, and/or Social Security ad.

if you guys have enough time to complain about how the campaign spends their money, you're not doing NEARLY ENOUGH REAL WORK.

If you're really worried, volunteer yourself as a budgeting advisor and work for free.

Guys, calm down about the food. Papa Johns is actually pretty good to serve multiple people under 20 bucks. I'm poor too, bitches but I can take in in a Papa John's once in a while. In fact, from the money I donated to the campaign, I am glad they are eating off my check. Go Ron GO!

Or more likely, this is why Papa John's is a favorite..

Eh people gotta eat and there is a lot of people working with the campaign I guess so that adds up. As for the rest of the stuff I don't know but I'm sure it was worth it and besides we don't have any billionaires (except maybe Thiel) giving us 10 mil every week.

I also looked up John and his wife and they gave 1,000 each to Jerry Abramson who is a Democrat and the current Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky. John (just him) also gave George W. Bush $2,000.

I am 100% ok with the campaign eating and not sleeping on the streets. I think the expenses listed are reasonable, especially considering how much of our workforce is young and volunteer. Simple food and lodging are all they can expect in return for giving days, weeks, etc. of their time and a hell of a lot less expensive than salaries and lodging would be.
