It’s not an official endorsement, but film critic Roger Ebert gave Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul a good review on Thursday night, tweeting: “Ron Paul is the only one I'd want to sit next to on a long airplane flight.”

Ebert has singled out Paul as the best of the bunch before. Earlier this month, he wrote, "Leaving politics out of it, what sets Ron Paul aside from every other GOP candidate? He's the only one who's cool." And in December, he called Paul the only Republican candidate "who speaks directly and clearly without a lot of hot air and lip flap.”

Awesome, one of the movie critics I like.

You would think someone like Ebert would have some very liberal leanings; so this is proof once again that Ron Paul is the only candidate that can take it to Obama by stealing half of Obama's base.

He's a Michael Moore liberal...

A supporter of the Democratic Party, Ebert publicly urged liberal filmmaker Michael Moore to give a politically charged acceptance speech at the Academy Awards: "I'd like to see Michael Moore get up there and let 'em have it with both barrels and really let loose and give them a real rabble-rousing speech."

During a 2004 visit to The Howard Stern Show, Ebert predicted that the then-junior Illinois senator Barack Obama would be very important to the future of the country.

great movie critic and a downright good person.

but, a Socialist imbecile.

Please stick to movies and philanthropy.

QUICK! Someone just gave Ron Paul a favorable mention in the media! Grab yer Thesaurus from your Utility Belt and start hurling insults at them! Explain why it will hurt us! Team Insult, UNITE!

PS - awesome little message from Ebert. Rock on.

good grief. Until he has the balls to actually give a REAL bonafide endorsement of Ron Paul's policies, this is akin to saying I like the little man...he seems nice. Lots' of people say how kindly little old Ron is.

Tom Davis had the balls to come out and actually give a true bonafide ENDORSEMENT. He knew what was on the political line.

Roger is just a celebrity and won't do that because he doesn't BELIEVE in anything Paul stands for. He also doesn't want to suffer being blacklisted in Hollywood me thinks.

Major nonstory IMO.

This makes up for his attacks on video games. Guess I can officially feel sorry for his lower jaw being removed.

I hate half of his reviews. He gave Atlas Shrugged 1 freakin' star which was obviously politically motivated.

Like I said....I think he is the premiere movie reviewer in the world. I usually won't see a film he doesn't give good praise. But you're right. He completely loses objectivity in poltical films. Go look at how many Masterpiece reviews he's given Michael Moore's films compared to Atlas.

Who said it was an endorsement? My post you are quoting called it a 'favorable mention'. At which point, you unloaded and called him an imbecile. How does insulting people that give Ron Paul favorable mentions help Ron Paul again? Oh, that's right, it doesn't.

Siskel and Ebert have always used their thumbs for movies only.
