I agree on both counts.
However, the best strategy is to not make war with the occupy people, because that will only increase blowback during their "occupy iowa caucus" thing.
We need to take the RP approach if confronted by OWS people:
Point out the points of agreement, and then move on undistracted.
Just as bluesc points out, we shouldn't waste time straight up supporting OWS, but we also shouldn't waste time fighting them.
If you are approached by OWS, educate and move on. This is the work. Don't get distracted.

Supporting any Occupy movement will do nothing to get Ron elected. What more can you do for the liberty movement than get Ron elected?

Why in the world would they protest Ron? He voted against TARP. Shows how misguided they are.

Can all of the OWS apologists on here quit it now?

Bachmann and Cain. Most people here were pissed off when they did it to them too. I don't see them doing it to Obama on his campaign trail.

The people who spend all their time bashing OWS in RPF forum threads could be doing Phone From Home, talking about Ron Paul, etc...
 
Actually watch the video I posted above. It looks like they are OWS Ron Paul Supporters. They cheered when Ron Paul was speaking after, and clapped for him. *shrug* Hell if I know though.
 
Obviously, this would tarnish OWS in the eyes of many Paul supporters.

If I was in charge of the divide and conquer department, this is exactly what I'd do. Then I'd make sure that the story got legs.
 
OMG, can you all not see that regardless of whether this should have happened or not, Dr. Paul turned it into total win???

I wonder if Bachmann and Cain handled it with 1/10 the class the good doctor did?

And everybody who reads that article is going to say to themselves, "Gee, that was really handled with class. Maybe this Ron Paul guy isn't the kook I keep hearing he is. And he has a good point there. The one percent got the bailout, and I got the bill too."

But then he got serious, pointing out that he agreed with some of their concerns.
“The people on Wall Street got the bailout and you guys got the bills and I think that’s where the problem is,” he said.
