Edit: oops can someone change the title to Rand, rather than Ron?

Shameless.

These are the same people who try to say that libertarians don't matter and that Rand will never win over the "conservative" base, but now that he is taking actions that appeal to the people they said he had no chance with, they are going full circle and pretending for the first time pretty much ever, that libertarians are relevant.

I think the labeling is stupid personally, but I'm just summarizing the kind of thought process that they are trying to peddle. Most libertarians I know think that the primary role of government is national defense, and that starts with the border.

When did Rand last publicly claim to be a libertarian?

Liberty wing of the Republican party
Constitutional conservative
Libertarian leaning Republican (not the L party of course)

I think are terms he has applied to himself and some more. I don't think he ever called himself just a 'libertarian'.

'Just' wasn't even in the question. Do you happen to have ANY relevant sources?

For instance;

“I’ve been there. I’ve seen what it’s like in the third-party world,” he said. “Our system is directed to the two parties and I made the decision when I started running for political office that I am a constitutional conservative and Libertarian-leaning Republican. My best influence is to bring the Republican Party to the Libertarian side of the issues.”

FWIW, not in my opinion. Voting is a violation of the NAP.

Which opinion is based on: precisely nothing,

And which you are willing to defend and explain: precisely never.

In short, you've got zip. Voting is definitely and unequivocally not an instance of aggression, and not a violation of the principle of non-aggression.

So go ahead and choose some random one-liner from Einstein or Churchill or whoever you're having do your thinking for you today, or, worst of all, yourself, and toss it out to me. I'm sure we'll all be so persuaded.

Take a chill pill.

Statement of Purpose: Voluntaryists are advocates of non-political, non-violent strategies to achieve a free society. We reject electoral politics, in theory and in practice, as incompatible with libertarian principles. Governments must cloak their actions in an aura of moral legitimacy in order to sustain their power, and political methods invariably strengthen that legitimacy. Voluntaryists seek instead to delegitimize the State through education, and we advocate withdrawal of the cooperation and tacit consent on which State power ultimately depends.

He doesn't explicitly call himself a libertarian, he talks instead about being "libertarian-leaning" or favoring "the libertarian approach to...", etc.

This is because libertarianism is still a dirty word for many Republicans.

...quite a few actually don't understand the difference between libertarian and Libertarian, so if Rand calls himself a libertarian, they think he isn't in the GOP.

...yes, really, I've met these people.
