Ok.. I know I heard GJ say in a speach that he's on the ballot in all 50 states.. that article says 47. Did I miss a memo?

romney has been bribing judges, i mean suing, to get GJ off the ballots.

Gary Johnson: Ron Paul write-in 'meaningless'

Politico
9/26/2012

Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian presidential candidate, said Wednesday that writing in Rep. Ron Paul’s name on the November ballot “will effectively be meaningless.”

But that didn’t stop Johnson from using his second Reddit “Ask Me Anything,” an online Q&A, to champion many of the foreign policy doctrines that have made Paul, the Texas Republican and former presidential nominee, a star among libertarian-minded voters.

“As much as I support Ron Paul, I think writing in his name will effectively be meaningless,” Johnson wrote.

Well, seems like nobody wants the Paul vote. One of the reasons I've never gravitated towards Johnson is that he seems like a phony just trying to capitalize on RP's successes without doing any meaningful work himself.

That is exactly what he is doing. Jackass.

And voting Johnson is going to be just as "effective" in regards to getting a Libertarian elected.

Typical type of candidate we always get.

man.. paranoid much Mittens?
na... he just figures, if he can't beat them with merit, get em out of the way with legal maneuvers.

[sarc] Sounds just like the kind of guy we need for president doesn't it? [/sarc]

I didn't see anything in the article about the context that would make it true. What do you mean by that?

"Effectively" is the word removed from the headline. All else, is grasping straws and playing semantics.

I like a lot of what GJ did in New Mexico. I first hated the idea of voting for him, but he's decently close to me on issues that I care about, so I'm going to vote for him. Also, I believe the best way to break out of the two party system is to actually vote for a third party. The more votes a third party gets, the more people will accept that they have a different choice. Will GJ win? Of course not, but I personally believe we should look at the long game here.

Just lost my vote and I'm getting a refund on my Gary Johnson 2012 T-Shirt. The second I felt like giving the guy some credit he goes off and acts like an arrogant prick. Oh, and I'm writing in Dr. Paul.

Nobody but us will pay attention to the "no confidence" votes even if they are tallied in some states.

Still, writing in Ron Paul is far less meaningless than voting for a third-party candidate. There now, see, two can play at that game.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I will be notching yet one more reason to avoid Mr. Gary “I have a plan that outperforms Ron Paul’s own, but cannot go into details” Johnson. Geez, what an epic joke.

A stronger LP means more and more people learning about Libertarianism, which will spread to the GOP and Dems as well.

I'll go one step further - voting for Dr. Paul is stupid, anti-liberty and pro-War.

By an chance is there such a thing as a dumbest post award?

I agree it's stupid of Gary to have said this but I also understand what he means by it. It's pointless to try and convince write-in-Ron-Paul voters to abandon some principles since we've all been about principle from the start of this election.

I think the statement was more along the lines of no one will ever know that Ron Paul got that many votes since write-in votes are generally not even counted. So if you want your protest vote to count, vote for someone who is actually on the ballot.

Unfortunately, it is not the case that supporting Libertarian candidates at the national level means that more and more people learn about liberty. Bob Barr and Gary Johnson are not going to teach anyone about liberty. I think you know I'm right too.

Now THAT'S a little overboard.

Is it meaningless because RP won't win? Then isn't voting for GJ meaningless? Isn't voting for liberty meaningless then? I'll go down fighting every time.

No he meant it's meaningless that nobody but us will care about tallied write in votes that mostly won't even have a name associated with them.
