AHHH you beat me to it! I was just going to post one of those :D

Seriously though...this isn't funny. Not at all. I'm VERY upset about this.

So far the tower has not been put back up on my street.

I alerted a lot of people about it and told them to call me if they see it up anywhere so I can go take pics.

We could have some welders make one of those and then park it at Trey Grayson speeches to give us a good, secure platform from which to drown him out w/bullhorn. :D

Portable Panopticon

he Panopticon is a type of prison building designed by English philosopher and social theorist Jeremy Bentham in 1785. The concept of the design is to allow an observer to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) prisoners without the prisoners being able to tell whether they are being watched, thereby conveying what one architect has called the "sentiment of an invisible omniscience."[1]

Bentham himself described the Panopticon as "a new mode of obtaining power of mind over mind, in a quantity hitherto without example."[2]

these are portable prison watch towers; do you know where the fence is?

anyone else think they're turning the US into one giant FEMA camp? the border walls, port security, taxing ex-pats after they leave, militarized/nationalized police force, etc. etc. no need to try and 'find' the random locations on old military bases, you're living in one

I'd like to mount one in the bed of one of my trucks so I could park it across the street from the police station...... tint the windows like a limo first.

The spineless French spray painted and otherwise destroyed every camera their government tried to put up until the government gave up.

The French!

Totally paintball, but don't buy supplies in your neighborhood, over the 'net or with a credit card. Cash only.

Americans are to fat and lazy to do anything so proactive. I'm sure they're too busy chomping down Whoppers and a dirty dozen of Krispy Kreme donuts. ;)

Had a lengthy discussion with a few people at my house rep's office about the tower and they took my info and promised they are going to have someone look into it and get back to me.

I am wondering if there is a way I could get the city council to get rid of it. (Hoping that they didn't already sign off on it)

They've had these things set up in my area for a couple years now. Usually in parking lots claiming they reduce car break-ins. They're probably right. But it's also conditioning to get used to having "guard towers" and "surveillance towers" in your daily life. 9/11 sure gave the gov't a license to do just about anything, didnt it?

Just got a text from a friend, apparently the tower is back up on the main street again.

Police surveillance tower put up on the main street of my city.

I called the police dept to ask about it and was refused any specific information as to why it was placed there.

I was told that it is there for "a reason" and is a major deterrent to crime so why should I have a problem with it?
You should call the Public Affairs Office of your local LEA and ask them. They will probably be a bit more amicable.

The image of that tower reminds me of this...

I wouldn't climb into one of those things and then raise myself up in the air like that.... who knows what would happen?

Maybe a strong wind or something. ♣
