What are the non-government solutions for these things, can someone enlighten me please?

Support your local Militia.
In this country there was never supposed to be standing Army.
It was to be comprised of the Militia (called up in time of need) and disbanded in 2 years afterward.

Same with Police. They should not exist.
An elected County Sheriff and an armed population.

Police came about because people neglected their responsibility and their duty.

Check out "the market for liberty" regarding courts/police. It used to be available as a free pdf on the web, but I don't think it is anymore.

I don't agree with all the philosophizing at the beginning ... you might want to start at chapter 3 or so.

'For a New Liberty' by Murray Rothbard along with 'Healing Our World in an Age of Aggression' by Mary Ruwart are the two books that finally got me seriously looking into and considering anarcho-capitalism (which i eventually embraced in its entirety) in contrast to my minarchism and Stockholm syndrome to the state at the time.

But otherwise, all the sources mentioned in this thread are great recommendations!

Also, welcome to the forums eugenekop and I see you are seriously thinking about the spectrum of libertarian philosophy and contrasting it to your modern day liberalism. Good luck!

If you value justice, self-ownership, and logical consistency, you'll certainly find a new home with libertarian philosophy :-D

Plus you'll be able to squash your liberal buddies with undefeatable and brutally consistent logic, economics, ethics/morality - and you'll be able to easily expose them for the hypocrites they ultimately are ;-)

Well thank you for the recommendations, I will use the online information as soon as I have time.

of all the recommendations... i'd advise you to start with basic ones, like economics in one lesson, before moving on to more specific topics like roads.

Police, roads, courts, army....I'm actually ok with keeping them public, about the only things gov should do

I dont know about you but I honestly dont think theres a solution for everything the government does. I dont think there should be. Govt is not the problem, it is those who govern and the media that sets the script

yeah, i'm also cool with the Feds running the military. court, police, and roads, should be run by the states, and i'd prefer they have private roads.

My question now is to the Libertarians on this forum now, not to the anarchists. What else beside courts, police, roads/dams and army should the government be responsible for? What did I leave out?

It's okay - baby steps :-)

Eventually you'll find out that literally any and every service the government provides (including the ones you're mentioning), has been done through private enterprise - but cheaper, more efficiently, and with better quality, while respecting the rights of individuals and innovating at the same time.

I was a raging socialist before I became a minarchist (which it looks like what you're looking into), due to my Stockholm Syndrome to the State. Eventually you may find yourself following minarchism to it's logical conclusion (ancap), but until then - acknowledging general libertarian philosophy is a huge step in the right direction. Have fun!

Btw, just a quick note - Libertarians and libertarians aren't the same thing ;-)

All Libertarians are libertarians, but not all libertarians are Libertarians :-)

I think central armies run by federal governments are incredibly dangerous. Even the founders recognized this, and they were all less libertarian than I am.

I support free choice on the other issues, of course.

Really, the most important thing is to cease enforcement of victim-less crimes. Actually, if you follow that one statement through to its local conclusion, it encapsulates almost all liberty issues.
