Why would a trade organization support a bill that will make it easier for ordinary lay people do that trade for themselves rather than relying on the members of that organization for it?

Now, the question is, how will the gun makers and their own trade organization (i.e. the NRA) react to this.

Police departments are a major customer of those gun companies and have shown in the past that they have a lot of sway over what their lackeys in the NRA choose to push versus what they refrain from pushing.
