Police called after man butchers cow in his driveway

Some of you may dismiss it as ludicrous, which it probably is to anybody who was brought up hunting or genuinely believes animals don't have souls (or whatever). But this is a rather traumatic thing to see if you are a vegan or vegetarian. This might even be murder! Yeah, its still a bit of a silly concept, but I understand it. I believe they do, on some level, deserve to be treated with dignity. Torture, rape, etc. of animals should absolutely NOT occur. Obviously we can't treat animals as humans under law no matter what, because we probably kill hundreds of thousands of them a day without knowing it, but there is a line where it becomes abusive and cruel. Mixed feelings on these issues.

Point is, if the guy wasn't purposefully torturing the thing, he should do whatever he wants wherever he can.

who the hell butchers a cow in their driveway? Yes, people should be able to do whatever they want in their driveway...but come on. He should have some common sense to know that someone would call the police.

Really? Idunno how big Ogden is, but in the rural suburbs, nobody had issues with people draining game of blood off tree trunks in an area viewable from the street.

Why?
Beef is Food. There is dead cow in almost every restaurant and Shopping center.

Calling Police denotes a distinct lack of "Common Sense" .

My local whole foods put their "vegan hot bar" right across the aisle from the butcher counter (10ft away). always figured that was poor product placement.

People gobble down dead cow left and right. God forbid they would have to see what happens before tossing the shrink wrapped sirloin in the shopping cart.... So weak we've become.

My girlfriend has butchered deer in her driveway , I make my boys use the garage , of course there is nobody who could see at our houses ...

Actually it is good placement , when you are over there eating the salad , realize you are weak , mal nourished , brain function failing , stop and grab a package of pork chops on the way out ...

What exactly would the charge be? Public food preparation?

I mean, there are zoning laws in some places, but I doubt there are in most.

Personally, I'd argue it wasn't seemly, where I live, but bring charges?

I may have a glass of lemonade while I butcher something in the driveway :)

I remember as a kid walking home from school in the burbs of Milwaukee during deer season seeing the carcasses hung in trees in yards to drain out:cool: we are a nation of serious candy asses.
