I'd have to disagree with your assessment of the debris field anything now is mere speculation, but having worked a few crash sights it looks like a long path plowed through the trees with debris scattered all along it where it broke up as it went, he just sank into the trees on final. Not much fire though, I wonder what his fuel state was. It'll be a long time before, if ever, we know what really went wrong.
My sympathies to the Polish people they have endured much throughout history, and they will they will overcome this as well.
If it broke up on the ground, why are there so few large pieces of wreckage? There should be big chunks of wing and tail. The landing gear assembly looks as if it fell out of the sky. Usually when a plane is reduced to fist-sized pieces, its because it came down at a steep angle, but in that case the debris field is small and a crater is produced. Looks to me like a large mid air splosion when the plane was on approach.
