Newt needs Starships to attack Klingons before they develop nuclear weapons and destroy Israel. The United Nations Atomic Energy Commission has not been able to inspect the Klingon home world of Kronos, and experts say that they are just 6 months away from developing weapons of mass destruction. Bill Kristol, speaking on behalf of the Emergency Committee for Israel, warned that the Klingon people converted to Islam many centuries ago, and plan a galaxy wide jihad to spread Sharia Law. Newt is the only candidate that can save us from this grave, existential threat.
He's nuts.
PS: For anyone that doesn't know anything about this. It takes a couple of years to prepare such things, oooh and a couple trillions but I guess 'Ole Newt would ask Mr Fed Chairman for some lubrication of the printing press.
Shouldn't we finish conquering Earth first?
The former House speaker has long been known for his boyish enthusiasm for subjects like dinosaurs, zoos and outer space. And in his 1996 book “To Renew America” he even devoted a short chapter to proposals that are, in some cases, directly inspired by popular science fiction. “Why not aspire to build a real Jurassic Park?” Gingrich asked on page 190 of the book, adding in parenthesis that such an achievement “may not be at all impossible.”
We could also have sex in space.
“I believe that space tourism will be a common fact of life during the adulthood of children born this year, that honeymoons in space will be the vogue by 2020,” Gingrich wrote toward the end of the chapter. “Imagine weightlessness and its effects and you will understand some of the attractions.”
Funny fact: luna = moon in Latinlunatic?
[I know you're joking...]it would be nice to claim the moon as part of the USA hahaha... The moon will have 9 delegates.
LOL!!!! LunarTicFunny fact: luna = moon in Latin![]()
Yeah, but think of all the balloons!Helium-3 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helium-3#Extraterrestrial_supplies ) is the only reason that would justify a moon colony. The problem is, however, that the Helium-3 would have to be transported back to earth in order to be used as a source for fusion energy. That's way too costly to make any sense.

The best way to make progress in space exploration and colonization is to reduce the cost of getting into geostationary orbit, i.e. cheaper and more effective means of transportation.
I'm financially supporting some German and Swiss scientists who do research on space elevators, a very promising concept:

I dont see how that could possibly end up badly. Interesting idea but way too many variables at first glance to be safe yet effective. Btw, every presidential candidate promises the moon (literally) in some form and so far iirc JFK is the only one to have it happen on his watch.
