Pledge To Contact Rand Bomb Wed. 2-15-12

I am a huge Rand and Ron Paul supporter. I have donated to my personal financial jeopardy to Ron and donated significantly to Rand's 2010 Kentucky race (even though I live in CA). I am nearly giddy at all of the cool stuff that Rand has done in the Senate. However, I am deeply troubled by his vote for central bank sanctions against Iran on December 1, 2011, the "Kirk-Menendez" Amendment to S. 1867 (a.k.a. NDAA):

I intend do my part to hold Rand's feet to the fire. I appreciate his playing politics to a point. But only to a point.

I will be contacting Rand Paul's office this coming Wednesday, 2/15/12, expressing my deep concern for this Iran sanctions vote, and will be explicitly asking his office to request from him a personal and thorough explanation of this vote. I will specifically mention that I am an out-of state supporter, donated multiple hundreds of dollars to his Kentucky Senate campaign, am a devoted Ron Paul supporter, a participant in the Ron Paul Forums, and will be unlikely to support Rand if he continues to vote for neocon or statist agendas.

Join me in contacting Rand's office this coming Wednesday and sending him a very loud and clear message that DOES NOT MINCE WORDS. "We've come to take our government back!"

I love the idea of a bunch of his fathers supporters holding his feet to the fire and would love to hear how he explains it. Based on that vote he would not get my vote if he decides to run for president some day, unless he could make me satisfactorally understand it. But I already know I won't be supporting any of them. Rand may still have a chance at getting more $$$ from me in the future.

Awesome! So far Rand will be getting at least two calls on Wednesday!! If we could just get around 100 or so we all might get the answer to this question that has been knocking around the Forums for a while now..

This pledge costs the price of a phone call and very little time and may yield interesting results.....

If we all hit it on the same day it will be more powerful.

I already did call the ones I am a constituent of, but I am not opposed to a general campaign to hound all of these psychopaths.

Like I said I get the gist. I too believe we should be minding our own business, but could you elaborate further?

It's the same argument as Ron gives repeatedly. Economic sanctions are essentially an act of war. They are very interventionist. Wars should be declared by Congress. Even Rand has said that only congress should declare and authorize war, except in situations of eminent threat. Iran has not violated the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. They have never attacked anyone. Ahmadinejad never said that Israel should be wiped off the map (it was a deceitful misquote by the American media). Iran has every right to develop its nuclear fuels. Diplomacy worked with the Soviet Union, who something like 40,000 nuclear weapons, so why do we need to menace Iran who may, at some point, get a nuclear weapon? Why aren't we threatening other countries with nuclear capabilities, such as Pakistan, India, North Korea, Israel, or England? This is similar to the bogus rhetoric we heard leading up to the senseless attack on Iraq. We should be neither the policeman of the world nor the bully on the block. Plus it seems to me that Rand's vote for sanctions on Iran's central bank is philosophically at odds with his recent public comments, such as those here:



Many here on the Forums like Rand and want to support him but are very concerned about his vote for sanctions against Iran's oil sales. Rand does not talk about it as far as I know. Many wanted to know what his reasoning was. Having said this, it comes as a surprise that only 3 persons have pledged to contact his office regarding his vote. I thought it would be a welcome thread and idea. It doesn't cost anything. I am a bit perplexed.

Anybody can call. Rand is interested in "a national dialog." He willfully tapped into his dad's national donor base. It seems that it would be useful to him to know if many potential supporters were wary of his sanctions vote, without some explanation from him. This is a positive thing. I support Rand and donated to his campaign even though I am from California. I look forward to supporting him in the future and also his accepting the torch from Ron as leader of the Revolution. But I will not be as eager if I think he will continue to slap sanctions on innocent nations that have done nothing to jeopardize our national security.
