Planned Noah's Ark Theme Park in Kentucky Draws Praise, Criticism

Kentucky taxpayers will help float Noah's Ark
By Cathy Lynn Grossman, USA TODAY

The state of Kentucky is about to invest millions in Christian evangelism -- sailing in on a replica of Noah's ark at the Ark Encounter theme park proposed by the folks behind the nearby Creation Museum.

The CM, backed by Answers in Genesis, starts 'In the beginning..." and the Ark Encounter, breaking ground in August, will pick up the story at Noah's Flood and continue through the rest of the Old Testament.......

The state's Tourism Development Finance Authority unanimously approved tax incentives that will allow Ark Encounter LLC to recover up to 25 percent of its construction costs through sales tax rebates IF it meets attendance and sales projections.

Not a big deal.

As long as Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom got the same tax incentives in the past and "IslamWorld" or "WiccanWorld" gets them in the future....

Or better yet a general law that allows any new business that creates 10 or more jobs to get a rebate on a percentage of sales tax receipts would be awesome. The first state to pass this would see it's unemployment rate drop to under 5 percent.

LOL @ WiccanWorld.

Then again....

Some groups might object to it if they feared that park could promote anti sodomy sentiments depending on how the park theme depicts pre flood history and activities.

Are you conflating Noah and the Ark with Sodom and Gomorrah?
