I spent the last week travelling all across Iowa, helping to cover Rand Paul's "The Iowa 10,000 College Tour!" I attended events at the University of Iowa, St. Ambrose University, Loras College, Upper Iowa University, Wartburg College, University of Northern Iowa, Morningside College, Buena Vista University and Drake University. Unfortunately 2 of the planned stops had to be cancelled on the first day because Rand missed his flight in Chicago due to cancellations and delays. You can find MANY, MANY more photos HERE.

Surprisingly it wasn't as much of a challenge for me to cover all these events, I guess I'm starting to get used to the chaotic nature of the campaign trail! I'll be in Nevada and Iowa again towards the end of the month. Be sure you click on the following links to get an even better experience of the college tour this past week!

Great stuff as always gage!

Did you get a sense for our presence and effects so far on Iowa campuses?

I doubt many other candidates could replicate this kind of support at as many colleges as Rand visited this week. Buena Vista University I was told only has 800 students, and Rand was able to get at least 100 of them to his event, during midterms.

I am member of a NFL team forum which serves a slice a pie for + rep and which I wished we had that here because you deserve a whole pie! Excellent coverage!

Great work man.

Those night photos are amazing. The one behind the crowd with the building lit up behind him looks awesome. And I like the arms crossed, straight face pose... hopefully he does more of that. He nails it.

Yeah, this is the stuff you don't see in the media. Even the cell phone pictures the campaign posts don't really show enough of the story.

I wasn't expecting huge crowds at some of these stops because they were small schools. Loras College only has 1500 students. Your photos show that the crowd goes a lot farther back than what it looks like in a photo of just him and the first couple rows.

And the photos of the kids out there promoting before the event, that's what this is about.

Those are dedicated supporters - even more motivated now after getting to meet him - that will go out and campaign for Rand on campus over the next 4 months.

To be honest, those pictures show about 15-20 rows of 10 people. At first glance it looks very big, but its only 200 people tops.
With 9 colleges, I'd say he reached 1500 students max.

Yeah, I had about the same estimate for that photo... somewhere between 150 and 200.

But the whole school only has 1500 students. 150 to 200 is a pretty decent turnout.

True if he does that at iowa state or des moines college, you're looking at 5000+ and 2500+ audiences. In Iowa, not in LOs Angeles.

Well when's he going to those universities? Let's see if he'd really pull those kinds of numbers.

I would also note the high amount of diversity at Rand's rallies. Plenty of women, people of different races, it's not all white guys.

Out of staters can't caucus?

Yes they can, I don't know who keeps spreading these ideas. Maybe it was Stannis. lmao

Basically the same as most other voter registration laws, you must be a resident and of age to vote by the time the caucus comes around. Students that have officially moved to Iowa to study can simply re-register in Iowa and vote. Also in the State of Iowa, you can register at the caucus on the spot and change from another party. It is definitely advantage Rand just in terms of young voters.
