Schiff only really likes shifting the taxes from positive things like work and savings, to other things like consumption. He likes the premise of the 999 plan, or the discussion it raises, but its not at all perfect in the least bit.

I'd much rather see a 1% consumption tax on all goods, but only after abolishing the income tax.

I don't like a national tax. It would be even better if they just collected from tariffs. If more money is needed, each state should decide how they want to raise those funds.
