Guys,

I've given to the Schiff campaign last week. During the 2008 Presidential election cycle, there was a website that we built to help Ron Paul.

http://www.ronpaulmeetupchallenge.com.

The website isn't active tonight, but we might be able to get it reposted.

The idea of the website was to pull membership and donation details from each meetup within each state, and collectively participate in a fundraising effort.

The website failed to achieve its objective for several reasons, primarily because Ron Paul had peaked prior to the launch of this website, and the racism thing was lingering, and most supporters were resigned to failure.

I haven't been back to this website in about a year. However, now that Peter Schiff is in a growth mode, I'm beginning to think that what he needs is a big old money kick in the ass big enough to be scary. I'm not convinced that the Meetup channel is the proper venue, therefore, I'm going to submit this post to see if anyone has any ideas to help the existing website (we'll change it as needed) give Peter all the money he needs to be the big swingin in Connecticut.

My sense is that now is the time to get this thing updated.

Thoughts?

Yeah, that kind of takes the wind out of the post's sails.

It was turned off about six months ago, but fundamentally, we need a way to relate people to a locale or organization, and then roll them up to a larger group, and then combine everyone together.

We did it with Meetup, but I'm thinking Facebook or Twitter, or something like that. How do people on Facebook relate to each other if they're RP people?

fundraising update

I'm writing this in hopes that a few ideas are born from the discussion. This is our chance to change the discussion in the Senate. Let's first prove to the Republican Establishment that the liberty and freedom movement is looking to hire their own lobbyist, Peter Schiff.

First, Peter has said that $20 million will be needed to fund the primary and the general election. Therefore, I think it's reasonable to use the mid-point as the first fundraising goal, so $10,000,000.

We'll break the goal down by state, according to each state's population. Here's an example:

State Jul-06
pop.1 $10,000,000 (GOAL)

Alabama 4,599,000 1.54% $153,608
Alaska 670,000 0.22% $22,378
Arizona 6,166,000 2.06% $205,947
Arkansas 2,811,000 0.94% $93,888
California 36,458,000 12.18% $1,217,710
Colorado 4,753,000 1.59% $158,752
Connecticut 3,505,000 1.17% $117,068
Delaware 853,000 0.28% $28,491
Florida 18,090,000 6.04% $604,212

Then, we'll update our graphics to show progress by state. As each state progresses towards completion, their state's portion of the United States Flag superimposed on the continental US will be filled in.

We'll ask the campaign for certain contribution date to include:

First Initial
Last Name
State of residence of donor

This information will be in a tabular form on one of the child pages for each state so people can look up their contribution and tell their friends. I would like to get the historical contributions to date so we don't leave anyone out.

We'll use Facebook somehow (not sure here) to promote the site.

When this site is operational, I will donate again, and hope you do the same.

Thanks for your time.
