Perry is endorsing Newt

I don't believe that. There is only one major issue that must be overcome with Repubs and that is foreign policy. I was won over. If he was third party there's no chance. If he was Democrat there's no chance because he would only have one issue of support, foreign policy, the exact opposite of GOP in that there are multiple issues of agreement and really only foreign policy that requires more conversation - but he's made inroads there.

We have a better chance of winning Presidency as 3rd Party than winning the Republican nomination.
There would also be an added benefit of giving the movement a permanent home.

This will become crystal clear. Either Santorum will endorse Newt, or Newt will endorse Santorum,
that person will be the nominee. Romney has no chance in the South or Midwest against these two.He also has no chance in Texas now. This race is over.
I hope Ron makes the right decision and gives the movement a new permanent home.

I'm not so sure that Romney doesn't beat whichever of those two emerge on the electability card BUT I do certainly agree with your first statement.

At some point, you have to ask yourself if the philosophical differences between you and who you try to convince are too far.

to quit before the reaction of the Newt scandal has to be the dumbest political move in history.

if he had quit even yesterday it would have been rational, not today

You can't be serious right?

You do understand this was done directly to overshadow the scandal story. I would wager money that Newt offered up a position for him to drop out today.

So let me get this straight - the darling of some evangelical Christians Rick Perry is ENDORSING the guy that had an open marriage AND was under investigation for arms deal stuff with the "enemy of the US," Saddam Hussein?

Perry is actually going to do this?

wow.

What a douche.

Gingrich will win SC. Paul will finish 4th in SC.
sorry guys but this is a Republican primary.
There is no future for the movement within the Republican party.

Um. We own 50% of the under-30's. If the under-30's just came out to vote we'd be running away with it. No matter WHAT happens in 2012, we own the future. You better believe it. The reason the establishment is running so scared is because they know it. They are being forced to dramatically move up their timetable because they KNOW that we own the future. Their haste will do them in. You just watch and see.

I thought Perry didn't like insiders? Hypocrite.

Too bad though.. I wanted another 'oops' moment.

Perry probably already told Newt he would endorse him before this story broke.
Now if he does endorse him at 11am speech, we'll see. I'm sure he takes his word seriously.

Flipping channels and Bret Bayer on Faux just said that Perry's campaign and Newt's campaign have been talking about the best strategic point for Perry to drop out ever since Iowa.

So this was planned all along - just the timing was in question - and with the MariAnne scandal, that's why today.

Also Bayer just said Texas is very proud of how Perry has done. Really, Bret? Are you THAT danged stupid? lol

He just endorsed the serial adulterer.

We sure need another person with no honor, no integrity, no faith (if say you have faith, and then break all the commands, you are just a charlatan), and no self-respect. I could go on, but Gingrich's list of negatives is too long to fully comprehend.

Watching it live now.

We ought to provide an extensive chart comparing the remaining candidates. Maybe someone has already done it.

EDIT: Whoops, someone else said it. Statement still stands, though!

It's just consolidation. Backers are telling these candidates to drop out. Romney and Huntsman had many of the same backers (establishment and Mormons). Huntsman drops and endorses Romney. Newt and Perry had the same backers (neo-cons and teo-cons). No doubt they told Perry to drop out and endorse Newt.

We have broken the race down to essential GOP elements.

Big Government Establishment = Romney
Small Government Constitutionalists = Paul
Neo-conservative War Party = Newt
Fundamentalist social conservatives = Santorum

For the past 30 years, neo-conservatives have hood-winked the fundamentalist social conservatives. Seems that the So-Cons are rebelling right now and sticking with Santorum. The neo-conservatives don't have enough voting power by themselves to field their own candidate. In a last ditch effort, they will probably dump Newt, and attach themselves to Santorum in hope of taking over his candidacy.

For all the talk of going third party, WHY doesn't anyone realize what that means!

RP gets torn to pieces by the MSM, they get to shout from the rooftops that they were right the whole time.
RP loses any and all attention from the general public outside of the attention that he gets from his already loyal base. Which isn't big enough to elect him. Whether you like it or not RP needs the sheeple to win this thing, and the only way he gets their attention is through the GOP press coverage. to go third party now would put an end to everything you and he have worked for. Don't cut of your nose to spite your face. The only way to overcome the system is to exploit the system.

IF he were to go third party NOW is NOT the time. The time to do it would be August. So wait for August to make this decision and make it carefully, because if you don't do it very strategically it just looks like a third party run to cry foul, we ALL get marginalized then and this whole movement gets set back to PRE-'08 status. Look at the big picture, PLEASE. Please consider this. I am not trying to be the bad guy here, I am not from the "08 race and I know I am new here, but please don't let emotions overwhelm this. Fox and their ilk want to paint you and I as emotional, temperamental and pro-drug anarcho-conspiracy wingnut types and we shouldn't be so quick to give them the ammo to do it.
