Periodically updated delegate count

We never give up on any state, but it might be like Florida, where the grass roots are pretty much the campaign.

Right. NC is a neocon paradise too and no real official campaign, but we ain't giving up. We will see what chunk we can bite off from the neocon monster at our State Convention in June.

Kansas delegates are still out. Here's the list. Don't know why the hold up or who they're pledged to. But it's making me nervous.
Any ideas?

No idea. I dont think we were expecting too much but if they aren't reporting it that makes it sound like maybe Ron won something. I don't remember them ever failing to report anyone else's wins this election.

DAMN..so KS is all done? No scope for us there like how we did with the other caucus states? What were the grassroots doing? Green Papers says 4/28 was the state convention?? http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P12/KS-R#0428

Don't tell me this slipped through the cracks...

I'm fairly sure Kansas delegates are bound for all rounds (33 Santorum, 7 Romney) unless Santorum releases his.

Regardless, we want as many Paulites there, if only to vote on procedural rules, party rule changes etc as possible.

Green Papers says Romney could be nominated at the convention by a voice vote if Romney's people sense that there are stealth delegates that will abstain from voting etc...http://www.thegreenpapers.com/PCom/?20120429-0

Unit Rule: noun
A rule of procedure at a national politcal convention under which a state's entire vote must be cast for the candidate preferred by a majority of the state's delegates.

GOP Rule 38 : Unit Rule
No delegate or alternate delegate shall be
bound by any attempt of any state or Congressional
district to impose the unit rule.

Do you see what I see???

delegates have the ability to vote according to the delegates’ preference, even if that is contrary to the outcome of each state’s primary. According to one source, the legal counsel for the Republican National Convention in 2008 stated: “[The] RNC does not recognize a state’s binding of national delegates, but considers each delegate a free agent who can vote for whoever they choose.” Thus, if a delegate were to challenge his or her ability to vote as a free agent, he or she would have grounds under Rule 38.

Sure hope you're right, sailingaway! I'll rest a little easier tonight.

Maine and Nevada !! yummy

I wouldn't give the total numbers and distribution, let the other side do the work. General totals I think are fine though, as you just did.

And next week includes the Maine and Nevada state conventions....

I would LOVE to see Romney's delegate totals start going BACKWARDS in the media!

...
Yes, like ABSTAINING on the first ballot to make the second ballot inevitable, :D has somebody really looked into this scenario?

...
Usually abstaining in votes just changes the majority. So if only 2001 delegates voted, Romney would only need 1000.
...
You need 1144 out of 2286 to win, or 1/2 plus 1, or maybe just > 50%. So if you right, and for example Romney has exactly 1144, then 2 people abstaining would give him 1142 out of 2284 which wouldn't be enough.

If our delegates aren't truly bound on the first ballot then we need to make sure everyone of them knows it as it could greatly improve our ability to deny Romney getting the needed delegates on the first ballot. Also we should make clear that abstaining does also help, just not as much, even with the reduction in the total needed it's still a net gain.

Is it me or with Ron winning all these CDs in every state I find myself asking where are the Mitt supporters? These are suppose to be the politically active people that don't come to rallies since his are 300-600 people but yet vote for mitt? And ours who come out in thousands don't really vote? But when we get down to the conventions and caucus's we tend to win everywhere we lost? Doesn't add up folks. Unless th sheeple that vote for Mitt believe the election system ends after casting your vote. Just saying Mitts number seem to be appearing as just numbers and no people behind them...

Well.....kind of goes with the attendance at his....uh....rallies:

Updated and updating regularly in my sig. The Paul number will be changed today probably, pending Oklahoma and Arizona (I havent checked the threads yet)

Updated with Arizona results, which are not 100%, but good enough for me.

NOTE: Supers are not included in this count.
