Perfect way to end the day...

Makers. On the rocks. In front of the woodstove. Lady and dog in bed. If I only had a good cigar.

Thanks bud. This would be a good time for a futuristic 3d cigar printer. Since we are not there yet I'll just have to let the moment pass as is. Still, a nice mellow and relaxing night. I'm not even gonna bring up the temperatures. I'm sure you might think that instead of a "winter" drink I'm sipping something on the "balmy" side at only 19 degrees.

Bailey's, Frangelico and coffee topped with homemade whipped cream..mmmm

Dessert, coffee and cocktail all in one, I like to multitask.

I'm kinda partial to my favorite Calabash stuffed full of the local tobacconists house blend and 4 fingers of 18y/o Glenfiddich..

Went to get my missus some McClelland's Single Malt for Christmas. Saw a 25 year and was about to pick it up until I saw the price tag. $789. She had to settle for the 12 year. lol.

I can't do the 18 y/o very often but it makes a nice treat...

Aye...

A toast back.... a ditty I've been working on........

Hoist tankards high, mates, hoist tankards high
Sooner or later we all come to die
There be angels in heaven
And parched lips in hell
But where we will end
No man here can tell

so hoist tankards high, mates, hoist tankards high
sooner or later we all come to die.....

If you like apple cider, you'll love a Hot Apple Toddy. Much like the original that it was named after, this little winter wonder can be made with whiskey or apple brandy. The real difference here is that your mug is filled with hot apple cider instead of hot water. (Who would pass up hot apple cider for water. Enjoy!

How to make a Hot Apple Toddy Cocktail

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start with your favorite coffee mug. Add 2 oz of Whiskey or Apple Brandy and 1 teaspoon of Honey. Fill the rest of your mug with hot Apple Cider and garnish with a Cinnamon Stick and a few Cloves before serving.

Mexican Hot Chocolate with Tequila and Cayenne Pepper

A wonderful and warming cocktail for fall and winter.

3 cups Milk (I used 1% and it was good)
1 and 1/2 bars Ibarra chocolate; broken into chunks
6 Tbsp Scharffenberger Cocoa Powder
2 Tbsp Cane Sugar
1/8 - 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper (start with 1/8 tsp and season to taste)
4 ozs Tequila
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
Ground Cinnamon for Garnish

Preparation
1.Warm the milk in a medium size heavy saucepan on medium heat, watching carefully.
2.Add the Ibarra chocolate, the cocoa powder and the sugar.
3.Heat until the chocolate dissolves, whisking to combine all ingredients.
4.Season with the cayenne pepper. Start with 1/8 teaspoon and season to your taste.
5.Pour the warm milk into 2 large mugs and add 2 oz of tequila.
6.Top with whipping cream; sprinkle whipping cream with cinnamon.

Mulled Wine

Like sangria, mulled wine is a forgiving beverage that doesn't require costly wine to be enjoyable. It's a wonderful way to warm up on a winter evening with friends. I personally favor a Pinot noir in my mulled wine, but a good Cabernet Sauvignon will also do very nicely.

Ingredients:

1 750-ml bottle red wine
1 cup sugar
1 cup apple juice
2 lemons, cut into 1/4-inch-thick rounds
2 clementines, cut into 1/4-inch-thick rounds
3 cinnamon sticks
2 whole nutmeg
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 teaspoon whole allspice

Directions:

In a heavy saucepan or slow cooker, combine the wine, sugar, apple juice, fruit and spices. Warm the beverage slowly over low heat without boiling and allow the flavors to come together for at least one hour. Strain before serving, if you wish. Enjoy warm!
