People have been telling me to run for Congress ...

So today I said that I would... IF some things happened first.

It would be for the 13th district seat from North Carolina. This has sorta been building up over the past several months, ever since the campaign I ran last year for school board here. A number of people in particular (and my wife ain't one of them :p ) have especially been encouraging me to consider doing this lately.

My plan has been to go to grad school and get my masters in history. This *would* put a crimp in those plans for the time being. And I wrote a few days ago that I'd much rather see other people run, wherever they are at, and give them my support.

The biggest reason why I posted this is still to do something to encourage other people to run for office. That, and to get the idea out there that there is a better way to be involved in the political process, than through "negative advertising" and vile actions.

If these things happened and I ran, it would absolutely be a good, clean, creative campaign.

Just curious as to what some fellow Ron Paul supporters think of this, especially how I'm going about it :)

I can help you out a lot, i've ran 3 campaigns, two of them my own. I ran for congress in 2006, am currently aiming to run in 2008, but may postpone until 2010 if I don't get the funding I need.
If you need help let me know and i'll PM you my number.

My campaign website is in my signature.

M friend has also said I should run for Congress, though I wouldn't even be able to do it until 2010, only 23 right now. I'd like to, I rule people with my logic and ability to explain things so people can understand. But I have less then zero chance I think. My district is uge, 19th district of Illinois, I have hardly any money, and I less than zero name recognition. I am literally, just some average guy.

Though I would like to do it if I felt I had a chance.

I've been grounding out campaigns here in louisiana, i got a lil' name recognition, but haven't been able to raise adequate funds, but with this grassroots effort... it may be possible for me to raise the $300,000 minimum needed to fund a congressional campaign.

Well, i finished getting all my accounts in order for paypal, my merchant account provider.
But unfortunately, my webmaster is on the road to Philly right now and he left without getting it up.

You can donate directly through paypal to this email: [email protected]

We have been working on it though...

My wish list is to have a donation counter like Ron Paul has.... that would be really cool. I could set my $300,000 goal...and watch as it slowly climbs all the way to me running for congress and becoming apart of the new Ron Paul friendly congress.

Why do you need $300,000? Is this some sort of rule or have you figured that this is how much you would need?

It's not a rule, but looking historical, and learning from personal experience...you don't stand a chance with anything less.
In 2006 my opponent spent 1.2million to defeat me.

Ick, man, that is disheartening to me lol. I don't even have .1% of that.

You have to be able to raise that money through supporters. you need supporters.

Yeah, I know, but it is still disheartening lol. I'd like to do it, but I have no idea where I would even begin lol. Turning 25 would be a good start I suppose.

Get involved in you local political party of choice... get involved in someone else campaign local...those are good places to start if you want to start developing contacts and supporters.

I'll ask my webmaster if it will work with his setup, but its a great easy way to get a graphical tracker everyone can follow. Basically, I want to see how bad people want to reclaim congress. I issue the challenge, give me the fund I need before march and i'll make a run in 2008, if not, We can take it back in 2010...assuming this new grassroots movement can also get behind me... i have the same platform as ROn Paul and I've run on the platform twice already, so i have a good record.

also- We are trying to start a site to help people find the "Ron Pauls" in there own states.
Remember Trevor Lyman of ThisNovember5th?? Well, he is also behind this site, and was the original webmaster of my campaign site. He got the ball rolling... and he is truly making mountains move.
please check out: http://ronpaulsacrossamerica.com/

If you know of a "Ron Paul"-like candidate running in your area, please go to the above website and let Trevor know.

i might run for the fourteenth if it looks like dr. paul is headed to the generals (which he is, so we'll see).
