Pentagon: US Considers ‘No-Fly’ Zone Against Assad in Syria

This is what that "humanitarian" bombings to save the Yazidi from "mass genocide" has now become and it's only just begun... Whatever it takes to get those big bad boogy men ISIS I suppose...

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey say that the US is still considering the possibility of establishing a “no-fly zone” over northeastern Syria to deny the Syrian military the ability to launch airstrikes against the rebels therein.

The idea is particularly puzzling in the northeast, since the US and its allies have been bombing ISIS targets in the exact same region. Since the US air war began, the Assad military has shifted its focus to the northwest, where other rebel factions are, allowing the US to do its dirty work for them.

Gen. Dempsey also said that they are considering the Turkish proposal for a “buffer zone” carved out of northern Syria to house refugees. Turkey has sought the zone as a way to get rid of the 1.3 million refugees they’ve been saddled with, while waiting for some regime change to happen in Syria.

That such schemes are even under consideration suggests that the Obama Administration haven’t given up on the idea of expanding their new ISIS war to include Syria’s government as well, even though they’re fighting ISIS as well.

Everything is coming along exactly as planned this time. The huge amount of bullshit being shoveled to justify this ongoing illegal and false pretext invasion is amazing, yet barely a fuck is given. I said it before, if they can get away with this OBVIOUS bs excuse then the rest of the NWO plan is pretty much a done deal. Probably won't even need a false flag excuse to finish it off over the next few years.

I can't see how that is possible without starting WW3.

"no fly zone" means knocking out all of Syrias air defenses as a first step and then destroying their air force. First off this isn't as easy as it sounds, the Syrians have recent Russian made air defenses, it won't be like Afghanistan and Iraq. Secondly and probably more importantly Putin will not let it happen. He is not going to lose his naval base in Syria.

Assad is the target in Syria; going after ISIS is just a trojan horse excuse.

There are two reasons they want Assad out.

One, Syria is the longtime enemy of Israel, and they want it transformed into a failed state run by fundamentalists that don't place any importance on technology.

Two, the Qataris wish to build a natural gas pipeline running through Syria, which will go to Turkey, and from there, provide energy for Europe, and thus break the energy monopoly that Russia currently has.

You keep repeating that Putin won't let it happen but if you haven't noticed all those ships that were there last year patrolling off the coast of Syria are now back near Russia, keeping an eye on NATO. Putin isn't going to sacrifice his country to protect Syria. NATO is sitting on his doorstep in Ukraine and it would be stupid to invest resources into protecting Syria while his country is currently being threatened with the whole Ukraine fiasco. He cannot fight NATO in Ukraine AND simultaneously fight NATO in Syria.

That's a hell of a Chess board that's in play.

You know,if we put up no fly zones around them factories where Airbus airliners are assembled,we could do wonders for Boeing's bottom line.

epic quagmire incoming

He could take Ukraine in a few days if he wanted it. Probably a few other EU countries at the same time.

Nato couldn't stop him if they wanted to without the US. The Europeans are nothing compared to the Russian military and the US is tied up elsewhere.

Putin is playing chess, Obama is playing checkers.

I agree, he is playing chess but that is precisely why he would choose not to fight NATO in Ukraine AND in Syria. He would at most provide arms but I doubt he would commit Russian lives to defend another country. And while you may be correct that they could take over Ukraine in a few days, things just don't stop there do they? Do you think he plants down the Russian flag and goes home to take a nap? Russia would now have to DEFEND Ukraine against NATO who would not just let Russia run right through Ukraine without a reply. You over simplify things. No ONE country can take on NATO in 2 different spots and expect to win as easily as you make it out to be.

Are you sure that this was reported today and not from two years ago? idea of a ‘No-Fly’ Zone Against Assad in Syria in to deny the Syrian military the ability to launch airstrikes against the rebels therein. Is such a laughable excuse for them while at the same they are claiming to be fighting the ISIS.

I had a feeling they would use the ISIS as an excuse to invade into Syria, while you know what i think? you Americans cant fight onto three wars you know?

Neither cant NATO simultaneously fight in two conflicts, with the growing tensions in the regions of Europe.

Who exactly is Nato going to send into the Ukraine? The US is tied up in the sandbox yet again and the Europeans are utterly incapable of facing the Russians.

As far as Syria goes, Assad has held out all this time. From that one would have to assume that with his forces resupplied with Russain arms, they would be a capable ally for the Russians in Syria.

Putin clearly has the upper hand right now.

Luckily, Canada will be there to lend a helping hand:

Asked whether the U.S. asked for Canada's military assistance or whether Canada offered it, Harper said there's "no reluctance" on Canada's part to play a role in fighting ISIS.

"President Obama indicated in the summer that he would be undertaking action against the (ISIS) threat and that he would be talking to a broad range of partners to form a coalition," he said. "When we recognize there is a threat like this that has to be done and it involves our own interests, we do our part."

"We do not stand on the sidelines and watch."

Thanks Canada!

About 1,300 troops from 15 countries - including the US and other Nato members - have begun a military exercise near Lviv in western Ukraine.

The US says the drill had been planned before the current crisis in eastern Ukraine, where government forces have been battling pro-Russian rebels.

Clashes have continued in eastern Ukraine, particularly around the city of Donetsk, despite a ceasefire deal.

Russia denies sending troops to aid the rebels, as alleged by Ukraine and Nato.

Over the weekend, Ukrainian Defence Minister Valery Heletey said Nato countries had begun arming his nation in the fight against the rebels.

He did not specify the type of weapons being delivered or name the countries involved.

Russia doesn't have a currency that is the worlds reserve now do they? We here in the U.S. have this thing called The Federal Reserve. I don't know if you have ever heard of it, it allows us to print money endlessly for our foreign adventures. Do you know of any other country that has the same type of spending power?

LOL!! To be fair, I'm sure the Canadians will be doing a bit more than that. They will make sure the NATO troops have a hot meal and our drone pilots are provided with ice cold beverages. Thanks Canada!

If you haven't noticed, Russia has been making moves to undermine that world reserve currency, even announcing such an intention. And what backs that currency? Oil. to which Russia is the #2 exporter in the world. and they just announced a new huge oil discovery today. they are also the #1 natural gas exporter in the world.
recently they just announced a new direct pipeline from Russia to china and will do the transactions in non-USD.

You are correct that we have the worlds reserve currency, but you are wrong about "endlessly". It will end, and I don't doubt that Russia will be in the mix working to speed that process up.
