Pentagon never , ever passed an audit , not once . Failed to submit one to congress 1990 - 2017 , not required prior . Submitted and failed since. Will never pass . includes crap like NSA , not reporting. As far as I know NSA budget still classified , was estimated around 11 billion in 2013 so figure twice now.

I'm going on old memory, but I think I remember an audit where the Army lost a railroad locomotive and the Navy lost an entire drydock.

I'll bet that there is no way that they would even attempt to account for equipment these days.

Margin of error is probably plus/minus $5 trillion.
