Took a trip to the local Borders this afternoon and grabbed a hand basket on the way in. I then headed straight over to the music section and found every Kanye West CD I could find. I loaded up the hand basket and walked to the far corner of the store where I left them in the children's section. I put a couple of large kids books on top of the basket and left them there. I did grab a cup of coffee on my way out.

I know it's not much but if they waste time restocking his crap maybe they miss out on a sale or two.

I did that to a vodka company (Absolute) for the ad campaign showing the Southwest US as part of Mexico (Atzlan). In that case I loaded a shopping cart full and pushed it over to the nursery department on a Friday night before the bar rush showed up for last minute booze runs.

Personally, I like Kanye West, but it's always nice to see popular protests happening in the marketplace of ideas and goods!

Instead of standing up and making an ass of himself, Kanye should have just urged people to buy Beyonce's album instead of Taylor Swift's. :D

I think the VMA awards should give him a "people who aren't invited back because they insist on acting like a dickhead" lifetime achievement award as part of next year's ceremony.

But he apparently cried on Leno last night, so it's ok.

He is an ass, my protest was his stealing another persons glory and all that Taylor has worked for. I don't listen to her, but at that point of achievement to have someone steal your glory and crush the emotional rush is beyond making an ass out of oneself. I wish she could sue the shit out of him for a 100 million dollars and then donate it to her favorite charity.

Next time I'll pull some of Jay-Zs crap and do the same. It seems he "pledged" a one million towards Katrina victims. Yeah he made a "pledge".... too bad he never sent the check.

So you vandalise stores?

But you didn`t change your mind. You said yourself your goal was to sabotage sales.

Make up your mind and choose your words wisely. Vandalism does not define what I did.

Then I've been part of boycotts where shopping carts were filled with goods manufactured in China were placed, and upon check out refused to purchase the items.

Sabotage? Not really, I'm sure they have stock in the back room and the basket never left the store. If you want to call it sabotage that's fine because that guy should suffer more than losing a few sales for what he did. Sabotage to me would be lacing them with a nerve agent like VX.

Why wont`t you face up to the act? Picking up item in a store with the sole intention of misplacing them somewhere within the store is vandalism.

I aggre that it was a very nerdy thing to do and it did negligent damage to them, but it is stil vandalism plain and simple.

You went there to perform actions you know were not in accordance with expected behaviour in stores and for the sole purpose of causing the store damages in lost sales and added work due to having to retrieve the items and reshelf them. What would you call it?

It is no different than going to the library for the sole purpose of taking all the T-s and puting them under Z-s and vice versa.

And Pod.... before I go to sleep I have a question. Are you defending Mr. West?

What I`m defending is property rights. Look em up in the dictionary some time.

BTW "Objectivist", Kayne West records, Aztlan vodka, Chinese goods... Do you ever protest against WASP products or do you reserve your indignation solely for the stuff the untermenschen sell?

Vandalizing a store because some random famous guy makes a comment about some irrelevant award show that offended someone?

Sounds very libertarian...

I bet Kanye couldn't care less about missing out on that extra one or two dollars worth of his cut on cd sales, I'm sure the store workers making close to minimum wage are bothered by having to restock though.

Obama called him a jackass...I laughed for 30 minutes about that. tones
Takes one to know one!

;-)

But seriously, this very well could've been a ploy by BO to try and distance himself from KW's behavior. In other words, a lot of white conservatives are put off by KW's behavior, and with BO calling him names, they find themselves agreeing with BO on this issue. Call me paranoid, cynical, etc, but I am willing to bet that BO wanted this to leak.

How very passive-aggressive of you! I love it!!! ;)

Yeah, I don't shop at Wal Mart either.

Do you have a list of White Anglo Saxon Pigs to peruse? Now that was a racist remark.... WASP.

On China it was nothing to do with ethnicity, I purchase Japanese products and merchandise from other Asian countries, I don't support communism.

On the mythical Aztlan I recognize that the Southwest was in fact purchased and in fact owned by the United States and the states contained within her borders. Making a map showing the Southwest as part of Mexico is racist from my point of view, seeing I live here and there seems to be some sense of entitlement among the Mexicans that live here and in Mexico, even though they didn't do shit with the land when they were here for 20 years. This is the United States and if Absolute or anyone else thinks otherwise then they can bear the burden of their idiotic ad campaign. Property rights? Try again, no property rights were violated, the store was still in possession of the CDs and not a one was damaged. Same holds true for the vodka company and the grocery store.

Now if I flushed them in the urinal or stomped on them, then you'd have vandalism.
Then have you ever been to a Target or Wal Mart and found things in places they didn't belong?

You should look up the definition of vandalism, because using it now makes you look like a rube.

"action involving willful DESTRUCTION or or DAMAGE public or private property."

No DESTRUCTION or DAMAGE occurred.
