Paul's relationship with Congress

most things a President Paul accomplishments will be outside of congress, using the power of commander in chief to end the wars; the pardon power, even the power to remove FDR from the dime.

by the way, the president most liked personally by congress , Jerry Ford, had to issue veto after veto

I believe those are the things that she doesn't like.

I can understand all the Hannity neo-con talking points this ... trying to find a nice word...nope...

But WTF is this shit?

First of all when he does get asked a question, which is rare, he is the only that doesn't spout 10 minutes of BS ,dodges the question or spouts off a substance-less GOP talking point.

You should hit that alright...hit it with a brick wrapped in the Constitution.

Yeah, I didn't get that either, but I was doing my best not to seem defensive. Plus we had about 5 to 10 minutes of free time to speak, so we couldn't really get in depth. I added her on Facebook, though, and when I figure out a solid way to approach her about Ron, I will.

Do your best to insert a little liberty in her, but where a constitution to protect your own freedom. Sounds like a neo-con nutjob. Cain, them Grinch?? WTF

she couldnt explain why Ron Paul's foreign policy is a disaster even if she tried. She would have a hard time using history and facts to disprove Ron Paul. Good luck wit her

I can understand the thrust of her feelings. It's almost seems to be a natural second step from "this guy is a kook", for many of the rank-and-file Republicans.

With that being said, there *are* many actions that Ron Paul could take as commander-in-chief that would benefit the nation, mainly the reduction of the warfare state and interventionist foreign policy. As a side-effect, this would ultimately benefit the economy as resources would otherwise be wasted overseas can be used in more productive ways here at home. Of course, pointing this out requires the person is open to the idea that our current foreign policy is very flawed.

With respect to the points about congress, it is still an open question, but would you rather have someone who can (and will) "work" with congress to enact bad policy, or someone who will do what is in his power to block bad economic policy?. With Paul, there is a real chance at righting the ship. With anyone else, there is no chance, with only cosmetic changes being likely (that will ultimately not matter in the event of a currency collapse).

Most of the people that I have talk to who hold viewpoint's similar to the person described in the OP seem to understand that we have a problem in this country, but severely underestimate the magnitude of the problem. We have to make a BIG play in the upcoming election. Cosmetic changes/tinkering won't set things right.

The comments about Ron Paul being hateful are just bizarre to me. The comments about him not answering questions are even more bizarre.

Ask her why she supports Newt and how he could achieve the things she believes are necessary for the economy. If she says because he can debate obama you might mention that people voted for Obama based on the fact that he was a smooth talker and not because of his principles which would get us into a similar mess with grinch.

Cain and Perry???? She liked Perry before ever hearing him speak? Yet she's smart?

She actually is incredibly intelligent. I didn't get to hear her reasons for liking the candidates, but I assume it's because MSM told her to. Even smart sheep can be led.

She openly admits that she sees an economic meltdown coming very soon. She even goes as far to say that she doesn't think that it really matters who we get into the Oval Office because we've already jumped off the financial cliff. Very "Paulite" if you ask me.

From what I understand, she likes Gingrich because of his "big ideas", but hell, anyone can have big ideas. I think she's very lukewarm to all the candidates, except Paul who she despises because of his foreign policy. I brought up Switzerland's non-interventionist foreign policy, and she simply said, "well, they're neutral." I was thinking, "yeah... you're making my point for me."

Oh, I did forget one other thing she said. She said that her family knew people who were in concentration camps that had moved here at some point, and she said it disgusts her that Ron says he wouldn't have gone to war with Hitler.

The thing is, though, we didn't enter into the war until Japan bombed us, which is exactly how Ron Paul would have reacted. But I didn't get a chance to say it.

Tell her that America was instrumental in sewing the seeds for Hitler's rise.

- Europe was at war with itself (WW1)
- The American people wanted to stay out of it
- The war had stalemated and would have eventually ended because both sides were running out of resources
- American government began secretly supplying Britain by stashing arms on passenger liners
- Germany learned about this and torpedoed the Luisitania
- American government lied to the people and said it was an unprovoked attack
- American government enters WW1 shifting the balance of power that leads to the Allied victory and the Treaty of Versailles
- Treaty of Versailles puts a major burden not on the German government or government officials directly responsible for the war, but on the German people.
- Germany is economically castrated and has to print lots of paper money to pay its bills
- Germany economy collapses in hyper inflation
- Germany is setup perfectly for the rise of a leader for the people who will return Germany back to greatness.

Anyone who looks at WW2 as a separate event from WW1 has very little understanding of history.

The chick sounds like your standard idiot who thinks she knows a lot more than she actually does.

Boo to her.

Sounds like you handled it just find though.

I don't think Ron Paul's "hated" by Congress. From what I've heard/read most of his colleagues really respect his adherence to conservative principles, I think they just don't always agree with that adherence for political reasons.

Ron Paul is so hated by Congress that critters from each side of the aisle praise him for being principled, kind, and caring.

From Nancy Pelosi:

Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, received some warm personal praise from an unexpected quarter, as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., described him as “a gentleman,” although she seemed to reserve the right to attack him if he wins the Republican nomination.

“I have a great deal of respect for Ron Paul,” Pelosi said today on CNN, when asked to comment on her long-time fellow representative. “He acts upon his convictions and he’s a nice fellow in the Congress of the United States. He’s a gentleman.”

I think you misread my post.

I think I understood it fine.

Tell her she has to quit supporting Rand then, because his policies are virtually identical to his father's. And tell her to tell Rand that his father is hateful to his face.

You're suggesting that we tell her to leave our camp because she only supports one of our guys, and not two.

I'm suggesting the same medicine for yourself =)
