You really should take charge of this project. The value would come from the best footage. I don't think you should push it forward. But if you hear it's a go, you should work with the pilot, with the goal of getting that best possible footage.

Flight time? Best light. When, I don't know, but probably a time where you won't have video noise at all, and when you can see clearly both the sign and the plane.
You should determine what time that is in Orlando. It's different everywhere. But it is around the first day of fall, so things'll be equalized a bit. 530-730? 5-7?

You might want to get atop a building. You could get footage of the plane coming in from a distance.

But you know what's up.

Think of it as something for the informercial project.

Pasta - please ignore this advice!

If needed talk toRoger and ask his advice on filming. Also watch the original clip. He's been doing this for years and knows how to make it look good. We do not necessarily need to see the plane. If we do - the message gets washed out in the sunlight.

Here's the argument that some people make.

1) Known person M is actually 2011 person N.

I don't know if anyone has proof of this, or they just like the idea.

2) Person N left at the same time that Person Z joined, and they both joined the same groups.

3) Therefore Person M, Person N and Person Z are the same person.

If I had to guess, I would say that Person N and Person Z are not the same person, but they both might be from the campaign, and if I was the campaign I would have a lot more than 2 people on these boards.

Seeing the plane and the lights at the same time on a dark background will be very difficult. I'll do my best though. I'm afraid that to keep the lights readable (not blown out the plane will be very dark if not invisible. We'll see how it goes and I'll do the best I can.

Ignore everything parocks said - ask Roger for advice on shooting - or really his wife.

We don't need to see the plane.

$2,030 - we need $970 to reach our goal - and that's before the $90 in PayPal fees I was going to cover. The lack of film really hurt our fundraising efforts. I've seen $50 come in since the lack of footage. Will probably foot the 1K and hope people pay me back after the fact.

If this is seen as test for Pasta, his camera, his ability to get results under these conditions, well, it's not worth what it costs, but it would have some value.

Here's an idea. Not a good one, necessarily, but just an idea.

A 30 minute long speech, or text of some sort. perhaps a long exerpt from a Ron Paul Book.

That is what is one the ticker on the plane.

And the plane is flying very slowly. And Pasta has it in frame, looking so perfectly well lit from the sunset. A full 30 minutes.

Just an idea.

Now, you might not have an application for that. That's fine.

Because this is a Pasta Rocket test.

And if you can pull that off, you get an A+

You know Orlando. You know North South East and West. Where are you going to be and where do you want the plane to come from and go to.

What is the background? You should be able to see what the ticker says from an angle.

Which direction does the scroller face? Is the plane coming at you from the proper angle, so that you can frame up the shot properly.

I'll look at the old videos and edit in that data later.

I'll also look at a map of Orlando.

The plane should be flying in circles around you. Like a spiral. You start seeing the plane on the horizon and you might as well shoot that. It will appear in front of you, going from left to right. And slowly goes in circles, and you go in circles, The first shots will be of Orlando, the horizon, sunset, and a plane with ron paul messages.
By the end, it's completely dark, the plane is overhead, and you're getting as clear a shot as you can get of the lights.

You might think of this plane as "B Roll" for the infomercial project. You will want to have your messages showing. Delete the one that says we could bomb you.
Earlier on this thread I have section headings for potential ron paul informercial. You could think along those lines.

Right now I'm thinking that I'll judge the ultimate success or failure of this project based on the video we get.

Someone could go to Orlando or Florida for Ron Paul Facebook and tell them where the plane is going to be, and when, and we want video.

Pasta posted something really important. That he was amazed that he was flying so slow and close to stall speed. My dad was a USAF flight instructor and sold aircraft after that, so I know a bit about this. The lower you fly, the more gas you burn. The slower you fly, the more gas you burn. Imagine driving from Washington DC to NYC in first gear instead of switching to 4th or 5th gear. That is the reality of the situation. Add the major drag of the sign which will burn fuel. He flies low and slow because he's an airborne advertizing sign - and is NOT fuel efficient!

I do not want to hear any more monday morning quarterbacks spouting off about gas milage or wooda, shoulda coulda.... It's easy to be right after the fact - even though you are TOTALLY wrong!

I would've gone with "limitations of the computer hardware" instead of the "Ron Paul Supporter" doesn't want to work.
Makes the fact that we're paying full retail price says that you're not a smart shopper.

yes, a seasoned slick advertising person would have trimmed dreadfully, in addition to labor and format. the plane is trailing
a forth dimentional banner inside a three dimentional city scape to people often hit with 2 dimentional ad pitches on an
almost one dimentional worse than ascii format. we do want people to be aware of doctor ron paul and his message!!!
