The VP is often the most trusted adviser of the President. I don't want Rand being softened up by his VP like George H.W. Bush did with Reagan.

If necessary, Rand could pick Mike Lee as he does not come off as combative like other choices do. His voice rings reasonableness.

I doubt Joe Biden is Obama's most trusted adviser. He picked him solely to appeal to white middle class voters (especially the pissed off Clinton supporters).

Is there something wrong with Luis Fortuno (other than that he lost reelection)?

Also, if Rand is going to go around the country criticizing the old guard GOP, then I's expect that his VP list has first-termers and/or individuals that are even younger than him.

Sen. Cruz would be on the list, but he may not be a good choice if he becomes very polarizing. Right now, I'd say Sen. Scott and Sen. Amash are good options, but... obviously there are some issues there.

Otter did vote to authorize military force in Iraq, but I don't know if he regrets that today.

The only person on that list that I recognize, that he might possibly pick is Scott Walker. I wouldn't be too surprised if it were Jim Demint. I doubt he will pick a congressperson. Of course I wish it would be Judge Napolitano.

Off the top:
Wildcard: Rob Wyden Democrat of Oregon. Civil Liberties-fiscal sanity transcend politics ticket. Oregon and a host of socially tolerant but not addicted to welfare states become flippable.
Brian Sandoval. - Nevada, Mexican, and a Governor.
Justin Amash- if he could flip Michigan it could be a HUGE deal. Ohio wouldn't matter. Palestinian Christian that's popular with the large Muslim population there.

(The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two persons, of whom one at least shall not lie an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves.
Article two,Section one.

I see two people have voted for Thomas Massie,in doing so,you sacrifice all of Kentucky's Electoral votes from jump street.

There have been many of these 'Rand VP' threads and I have made many recommendations on them.I would prefer Massie as VP over any suggestion I have made,I would prefer Adam Kokesh as VP over anyone I have suggested and I'm serious as a heart attack about that.

However, the purpose of choosing a Vice Presidential running mate (AKA not worth a warm bucket of spit by a victorious contender for that office)is to increase the chances that the Presidential candidate will get elected, not make some political statement that actually might cost him votes.

Kind of early. I don't like any of those choices really. VP needs to contrast the nominee. A woman, minority or both would be best and a least. Two white men are not going to win next time around. That's the reality of it.

Edit, I forgot Tim Scott is black, might work...

I generally agree, but I'd say the Pres and VP nominees could be similar if the ticket as a whole is supposed to be bold and make a statement. For example, Paul + Cruz/Lee would be a staunch libertarian ticket which is completely different than something like McCain/Palin and Romney/Ryan.

If Rand is about to go around the country criticizing the old guard GOP, he can't then just go ahead and pick an old guard type to join him on the ticket. He would kill his momentum among his base. Think about all the complaints when he simply endorsed Romney. Imagine the complaints if instead of endorsing a liberal Republican for president when he was out of options, he hand picks one to be the next VPOTUS.

It's very likely that Rand's best VP option(s) hasn't been elected yet. At this point, Sen. Amash might make the most sense.

Amash is woot the only guy who is liberty friendly yet brings something to the ticket that is lacking.

Paul/Sanford

The South Shall Rise Again!

___
(ps i did vote for Sanford)

Christie or Martinez. The President calls the shots, not the VP. Let's have a liberty-minded President, not Hillary Clinton.

Are We talkin bout the Butch Otter that sicked the revenuers on the taxpayers of ideehoo & with the extra bucks collected gave the government employees a raise ..... U want this dude Really ?

Based on the list I had to pick where I thought it would help win at least one state that isn't going Republican anyway.

Remember folks in this game you need...

Have you not been here in a while. We are resurrecting the republican party. So you know, kinda look the other way. Don't think about. Think about everyone else but yourself in this situation and just do it. If not your other choice is walker. ROFL /sarc

Idaho hired 48 temporary auditors and collectors in fiscal 2011 as part of Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter's effort to boost revenues without raising taxes and narrow the so-called "tax gap"

The added staff brought in more than $26.3 million, more than double the original estimate of $11.5 million. All the positions were made permanent this fiscal year.

Idaho's additional tax receipts are just a sliver of its roughly $2.7 billion budget, but they helped the state post a budget surplus for the first year since the Great Recession began in 2008, money that helped give state workers their first raises in five years.

And loves online sales taxes ?

According to this AP article, Idaho’s Governor Otter restated his support for online sales tax collection last Friday in an address given from his office.
