Paul/Johnson ftw

You people seem to forget the huge disagreement Ron and Gary have on the pro life issue which is why Ron has already said, I believe, that he wouldn't ask Gary to run with him as his VP.

Both offer the exact same policy recommendation re: abortion. They both want to devolve the issue to the states.

has anyone thought about what the paul white house would be like? who would be paul's ideal vp? how would he fill his cabinet? judge napolitano, jim demint, justin amash, rand, peter schiff, glen bradley, bob barr, chuck baldwin?????? its fun to start imagining what we could really do when paul becomes president!

When picking Ron's circle we often dip into current elected officials. Rand? Amash? Bradley? Demint? We need these guys in their seats. Ron has plenty of talent to pick from without resorting to sitting officeholders.

I like Judge Nap for Attorney General... He can be tasked by President Paul to dismantle the drug war... Nap is too old for supreme court.

I think Napalitano for VP is best. hes a reallly good speaker and will provide a strong voice in the vice president debates backing ron paul. NP just looks tough.

We have a long way to go before we start thinking about VP.

yeah. we need to break the habit of celebrating before the bell.

celebrate a great debate performance tonight. save VP picks for the convention -- or, at least, until a few primary victories are in the bag.

...Walter Williams [couldn't resist ;^]

we need a vice president that courts independents. in the general election, the vast majority of republicans will fall in line and vote for paul because of the "anybody but obama" sentiment. independents will win us the election.

I would love a Paul/Johnson ticket. If Paul wasn't in the race I would probably be a Johnson supporter, I think he'd make a great VP or a great executive to help implement Ron Paul's ideas.

too old for the supreme court? elaborate plz.

Ron may only get to appoint 1 Supreme Court justice... If he wants to leave a lasting impression on the judicial system, he needs to do what Bush Jr did and appoint as young a Judge as possible so he can influence the court for 30+ years... Judge Nap would make an awesome Justice, but may only serve 15 years... That's why he should be Attorney General and go to task tearing apart as much of the corruption and bad policy as he can in the 4 years he would have.

+Rep and GREAT idea. The Judge would be perfect as attorney general.

Id take the Judge for 15 years than gamble with someone 15 years younger and an unproven ideology. A heck of a lot of swing votes are cast in 15 years.

I also like the Paul/Johnson ticket. Johnson would draw more centrists and independents, and anhilate Biden in VP debates.

independents love a compromise and they see libertarians as a compromise (ironically) which is to our advantage. judge nap and gary johnson both would help us kill with independents in the general. why cant republicans see this!

if i had to choose i would def choose judge napolitano tho. i agree with him more in terms of foreign policy and abortion and he is a better speaker and debater than gary, who comes off kinda weak and easy to brush aside, whereas judge is a force and an articulate one. ive said it before and i will say it again i would pay to see judge nap in a vice presidential debate or presidential debate. even moreso than seeing ron debate obama just because debates arent rons shining moments always.

The question of who should be Ron's VP is really important, and due to Ron's age, it is really important that he make a choice that won't alienate his core supporters.

Here's what I think:

Gary Johnson - my first choice. He's a true libertarian, and obviously respects Ron. Only real negative for me is his support of the Fair Tax, which I oppose for the same reason Ron does (despite what Herman Cain said, it *WILL* open the door for a combined federal income & sales tax).

Judge Napolitano - my second choice, and closest to Ron in views, but I'm not sure he's interested in the job or that others will think he is "qualified" for POTUS.

Rand Paul - my third choice, but I think a Paul/Paul ticket will be strange and reek of nepotism to some.

John Huntsman - my final choice I could support him as VP. Seems he's not a neocon or a theocon. But beyond that he's far from Ron Paul.

I think Ron runs a big risk of alienating alot of his supporters if he chooses Palin, Kucinich, Ventura, or Barr for VP. But that's just my opinion.
