(RTTNews) - Presidential hopefuls Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich continue their fight against presumptive nominee Mitt Romney, who leads them in delegates and funding by a wide margin.

Texas Congressman Ron Paul's campaign remained steady Friday, announcing he raised $10.4 million in the first quarter and $2.6 million in March. With no debt, Paul aides said he had enough funds to make it to the GOP convention in August.

Former House Speaker Gingrich, however, canceled his upcoming appearances in North Carolina after announcing Friday his campaign is $4.3 million in debt. Romney's March fundraising numbers topped $12.7 million, the highest monthly funds raised yet for his campaign.

Ron Paul will continue his countrywide tour Sunday, appearing in Philadelphia before heading on to his home state of Texas for a townhall in El Paso. Gingrich, who is campaigning in Delaware Saturday, had no events scheduled going forward.

There are women over at Twitter posting pathetic Newt gatherings. LOL

I went to Nate's talent show tonight, and sat behind a friend of mine who's a Gingrich guy. He saw Nate's Ron Paul shirt and said, hey Nate, guess who's not going to be the Republican nominee? Nate didn't miss a beat, replied, "Newt Gingrich." LOL. Then he started lecturing us on how we needed to take one for the team in the General and vote for Romney... I could tell his girlfriend was on our team, she wiked at me, like, "I'm voting Paul." LOL.

I like Nate.

Newt should get out and endorse Paul !! lol

I don't know, how the hell is there supposed to be a brokered convention with only 2 candidates.. Santorum dropping out was totally uncalled for at least in these early convention stages.

Reagan and Ford had one.

And Ron was there, leading the Texas delegation for Reagan.

Nope Ford won on the first ballot, barely. Its like impossible to have brokered convention with 2 candidates. I hope Gingrich sticks it out, unless him leaving will give us actual popular vote wins. Though he's $4million+ in debt so maybe he'll bow out in that case i don't know how a brokered convention could happen in all honesty.

He didn't have enough committed delegates going into the convention. There was negotiation and fighting for delegates at the convention itself. Some think it was Reagan agreeing to accept a moderate for VP that lost him his edge with conservatives, but it was touch and go. Yes Ford won on the first ballot, but that was the end result not the foreseen consequence going in.

Yeah unless Gingrich wins 3 more states his name might not even be on the first ballot. I'm sure a handful of his delegates are actually our people.

There would still be delegates who are bound to Santorum and Gingrich, so if the rest are semi-evenly split between Romney and Paul, it could likely result in a brokered convention.

His name will be on the 1st ballot.. just not any subsequent ballots in the event of a brokered convention.

I just don't get the point of these f'cking idiots, I mean what's the point of ousting Obama if the replacement is Obama's clone? And that's precisely why Romney will LOSE because many Indies & Dems don't have any reason to switch to Romney because he IS Obama while many conservatives will simply not show up to vote for one LIBERAL over another

Ron Paul on the other hand, will undercut Obama's support in a big way by attracting many anti-war pro-civil-liberties Indies & Dems; Ron Paul will be the only candidate that will be able contrast himself with Obama, Romney can't attack him on anything because again, Romney IS Obama!

Of course, there can be two-man brokered convention because some of the delegates already bound to Santorum & Gingrich are anti-Romney bloc & many of them won't mind picking Paul over Romney because they KNOW that ROmney is simply Obama's Republican clone, & once the race has been narrowed down to only Paul v Romney, there's nobody else to split anti-Romney vote & if we get the truth out there that Paul has a WAY BETTER chance of undercutting Obama's support amongst Indies & Dems due to anti-war & pro-civil-liberties stance then that could turn the tide

Why did Santorum drop out anyway? Seems like all it did was help Romney and that's what the GOP wanted him to do.

Spot on! Always remember Santorum is a "team player". He would sell out his core principles (if he really has any) for the team. He's done it a lot of times before so he has a track record.

Check out videos from Adam Kokesh. Adam has interviewed various "candidates" at Newty "events" (about 50 ish to 100 people tops). Only the paid talkers and propagandist media would consider Newt a real contender.

In this video Adam interviews an economics "expert", he says so himself. LMAO!

A Vote for Romney is A Vote for Obama. Romney fails on every issue. If the gop does not nominate Ron Paul. The gop will elect obama.

If he lost Penn his political life was effectively over. Between that and his daughter (God bless her) I would have done as he did.

he was also losing MN etc in delegates and had he stayed in would have lost MO because Romney's folks would have stayed with ours. Now the meme is that Ron got delegates because Santa dropped out, not that he couldn't even hold them.
