only a moron would have tried that stunt without covering their tracks.
Remember the guy who hacked Palin's email account? He didn't even try to cover his tracks.

agree. the question is: should one reasonably expect that the video was made by Paul just because the name of the channel was NH4Paul? since no one verifies the veracity of channels name, i believe that's not a reasonable expectation.
I don't think this will have any real negative effect on Paul's campaign, although it probably won't help it, either.
Just dont expect Brian Williams to officially retract the fabricated story on NBC Nightly News...
I'm wondering if there were some election laws broken, in the sense that the action prevented a candidate from progressing or equality.
Yeah, because liberia is a bastion of nonagressionism![]()
For those who are interested, here's a link to that Huffington Post article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/06/huntsman-denounces-video-_n_1189285.html
Yes, the author of the article does indeed claim that they received this reply from the poster of the video:
When The Huffington Post contacted the poster of the video through YouTube to ask why they created the video and whether they had any formal association with the Paul campaign, NHLiberty4Paul replied: "Sorry, campaign has asked me not to speak to reporters."
I do think the campaign ran out of money. But I was surprised by the cataclysmic look on his and his family's faces when he gave his dropout speech. This wasn't "I failed this time around. If Romney wins I might become Secretary of State and if Romney loses, I'll run again in 2016." This was more like "Something terrible just happened. This is the end of my political career."
It was a local affiliate, not Fox News-proper.NBC Nightly News is free to lie with impunity - that was determined by that FL case, Faux News and Rupert were involved, appellate court ruled that no television 'news' has any obligation to be truthful and can intentionally lie their asses off.
Malicious intent under false premise = fraud.
I'll keep posting this if I have to.
Seems like a waste of campaign money
I want nothing to do with any political philosophy which allows some loudmouth asswipe to stand in the public square and say nasty things about me without any recourse except me punching him in the head or putting a bullet in his ass to get him/her to stop with the BS. This lackadaisical libertarian headspace is why a third party Libertarian bid will fail miserably..

Sure, I guess I don't agree that your argument is valid, I think malicious fraud against our reputations and Ron's fully justifies this so it stops in the future. That being the case it just seems like reaching to me to call fraud protected speech.
