Paul Campaign Suing Maker of Huntsman False-Flag Video!!

agree. the question is: should one reasonably expect that the video was made by Paul just because the name of the channel was NH4Paul? since no one verifies the veracity of channels name, i believe that's not a reasonable expectation.

Maybe it shouldn't be, but the fact that a gaggle of trained professional journalists considered that to be evidence enough would seem to give the prosecution evidence to support their case.

I don't think this will have any real negative effect on Paul's campaign, although it probably won't help it, either.

I'm sure this sort of action will deter individuals from pulling stunts like this in the future, at least make them think twice.

I mean this ad was aired on national TV ... could have definitely turned people off from Dr. Paul. So in the long run it could help ...

Just dont expect Brian Williams to officially retract the fabricated story on NBC Nightly News...

NBC Nightly News is free to lie with impunity - that was determined by that FL case, Faux News and Rupert were involved, appellate court ruled that no television 'news' has any obligation to be truthful and can intentionally lie their asses off.

This is good. It will help clear Paul and his supporters of this nasty racist stuff and show America how dirty a game politics has really got(if its from the Huntsman girls).

I'm wondering if there were some election laws broken, in the sense that the action prevented a candidate from progressing or equality.

That would be something to persue after finding out the creator of the vid, I'm guessing....

Yeah, because liberia is a bastion of nonagressionism

Ancap and aggression go hand in hand unless playing thought experiment games where human nature, as graded from psyhopathically evil to unselfishly good, is not factored into the equation properly. All that has to happen in America to be Liberia is for rule of law not to be enforced and the degeneration of Liberia would not be that far behind in America's cities.

if the video had no connection to jon huntsman or his people and was a stilted cold war era slam,
getting satisfaction from a court settlement only slightly compensates us for how close iowa was.

For those who are interested, here's a link to that Huffington Post article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/06/huntsman-denounces-video-_n_1189285.html

Yes, the author of the article does indeed claim that they received this reply from the poster of the video:

When The Huffington Post contacted the poster of the video through YouTube to ask why they created the video and whether they had any formal association with the Paul campaign, NHLiberty4Paul replied: "Sorry, campaign has asked me not to speak to reporters."

Interesting how they didn't say whose campaign told them not to speak...

I do think the campaign ran out of money. But I was surprised by the cataclysmic look on his and his family's faces when he gave his dropout speech. This wasn't "I failed this time around. If Romney wins I might become Secretary of State and if Romney loses, I'll run again in 2016." This was more like "Something terrible just happened. This is the end of my political career."

I heard his billionaire dad was running a super pac for him, so they weren't out of money.

And Huntsman pretty much admitted he was aware of the stunt on the video posted a few pages back. (not a point to you in particular, but to everyone not reading the whole thread.)

Seems like a waste of campaign money.

They might as well sue the Google employee who wanted to wear the KKK gear holding Ron Paul signs

It was a local affiliate, not Fox News-proper.

I want nothing to do with any political philosophy which allows some loudmouth asswipe to stand in the public square and say nasty things about me without any recourse except me punching him in the head or putting a bullet in his ass to get him/her to stop with the BS. This lackadaisical libertarian headspace is why a third party Libertarian bid will fail miserably..

Nah, really no connection there. I don't think that "lackadaisical libertarian headspace" will really be a campaign issue.

There isn't much cost to filing the lawsuit these days, and it if can generate a subpoena to release the info it can at least be useful to debunk some claims.

Sure, I guess I don't agree that your argument is valid, I think malicious fraud against our reputations and Ron's fully justifies this so it stops in the future. That being the case it just seems like reaching to me to call fraud protected speech.

i don't think all fraud should be punished. if i tell my girlfriend 'i will marry you' knowing that i will cheat on her later in the day, that is fraud, but it isn't punished. we don't have rights to our reputations. awful speech that isn't a direct threat to lives of property should be combated with more speech, not violence.
