His name is David Carlson. Here below is some excepts from his Facebook page: He talks about why he's running:
Along with many conservatives, I watched as a very small fringe group ofLibertarians infiltrated the Minnesota Republican caucus, uncompromisinglybacking a slate of candidates who in large measure do not represent Minnesotavalues, and that’s evident by Congressman Ron Paul’s dismal 27% voter supportin our statewide Presidential caucus. Many of these disciples chosen by theirkingmaker, are widely viewed in our state, and nationally, as completely unelectablewith negative views that do not reflect the heart of the Republican Party. In fact, Iwholeheartedly believe that if we nominate Kurt Bills to represent the RepublicanParty, leading the state ballot, his radical affiliation with Ron Paul will crush anychances the Republican Party has of maintaining the Minnesota State House andState Senate.
Just a month ago we had two veterans running for this seat, and I would have never thought I’d be standing before you today, on these steps. Having said that, over the past four years I witnessed firsthand the extremely calculated, effective and efficient takeover of the Republican Party of Minnesota by diehard supporters of Congressman Ron Paul. Many of these supporters are patriotic and love this country just as do I. However, many are also blatantly anti-military, loathing the very idea of military service, and have been openly vocal in this opposition. In this race were two qualified veterans, both whom I would argue would have been better candidates to move forward towards November; if either of them had won the endorsement, I wouldn’t be speaking to you right now. They didn’t win though. In fact, many delegates felt these veterans were greatly disrespected by the disciples of Ron Paul, Minnesota’s new kingmaker, by way of Texas. Not only were the veterans tossed to the side, but when one delegate chose to utilize his one minute of floor time to read from the Book of Genesis, highlighting the unshakable bond between Christians and Jews, and the need for Republicans to support our closest Middle-East ally--Israel, he was appallingly booed right off the stage in a shocking display of disdain and anti-Semitism. Ron Paul values are not Minnesota values. Kurt Bills says he’s a “Kurt Bills Republican.” To know what a Kurt Bills Republican is, one must only understand truly what a Ron Paul Republican is. It’s more than just fiscal responsibilities and money bombs. If we weren’t fortunate enough to be Americans, but instead lived in Egypt, and President Ron Paul had ruled over this land for the past four decades, we would not have civil rights, equal voting, protection for women, minorities, a strong military or much of any foreign engagement. President Ron Paul would look a lot like Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain. Under President Paul, a black veteran wanting to eat in a restaurant where he was unwanted would be forced to leave, because that owner has the right to be blatantly discriminate in Ron Paul’s America—state and individual rights trumps all. Examining what a President Paul would have done during World War II, he has indicated he felt “Saving the Jews was none of our business.” The world could be divided into Nazis, and anyone else—if we even survived, under President Ron Paul. Representative Kurt Bills has attained the endorsement of the Republican Party due to his devotion to Ron Paul, but now was going to become a shape shifter and evolve into an entirely different candidate. When Bills was asked first about Israel, when he still needed the support of Ron Paul and his followers, Kurt Bills played the role—no foreign aid. When asked the second time at another debate, Kurt Bills had a different answer. Perhaps, but only about $1 Billion, and he’d have to see the fine print. When asked a third time, Kurt Bills defied his base of support, and morphed into the neo-conservative Ron Paul supporters loathe, bowing to the lobbies and supporting fleecing American taxpayers for the purpose of empire building. This example illustrates a principal issue of American foreign policy and our national security, and a man who in front of three different crowds said three different things. I didn’t fight three combat tours to see two qualified veterans dismissed, only for a candidate who will not stand for the principles the Republican Party has traditionally supported—like our allies. Although Kurt Bills is not a veteran, thus having no military experience to draw upon, and no experience in foreign policy, military or national security strategy, counter-insurgency strategy, critical infrastructure protection, energy or a border policy, to name a few, the policies he endorses will cut valuable resources from all of the above. He then advocates a plan that unfairly targets our military, veterans and their families, all the while asking more from them at the same time, but making good on less promises. This is unacceptable to the people of Minnesota, and also to Americans as a whole. Bills advocates closing one-third of our strategic military bases around the globe. Essentially, America under Kurt Bills and Ron Paul is one that is going to retreat away from the world, leaving a dangerous power vacuum that America’s enemies will only be too happy to fill.
