Party Hacks Want Rand To Run For State Senate

If Bunning was really in cahoots with Grayson and conspiring to create a no primary situation, I think he would have at least endorsed Grayson after dropping out.
Fair enough, of course the scenario laid out wouldn't have necessarily required Bunning to be in cahoots. But its all speculation, so no biggie.

In short, and I'm not saying this is true, *if* he would be likely to win the state senate seat *and* would be unlikely to win the Republican senate primary, he should go for it. It is way too early to answer that question now.
Except Rand said publicly early on that he had no interest in going after a state-level seat.

"Run For State Senate?"

Well, at least the KYGOP elitist cabal got it half right:) ... and a broken clock is right twice a day.

LOL

State Senate? Not even like a Federal House seat?

Why didn't they just tell him to conduct a write-in campaign for local dogcatcher?

State Senate is nothing to sneeze at. I consider Paul a viable Senate candidate, so of course this threat by Grayson is stupid, but for most candidates, State Senate is something to aspire to, even though it seems the action is at the federal level. For an entry-level liberty candidate, state or even local posts are where it's at.

Yep, completely agree.

Just look at Obama. He went State Senate ---> US Senate ---> President in like 4 years.

And while I don't advocate that progression as solid strategy, it's still evidence of the chinks in the armor. But Rand deserves the full-on Senate run.

the question is how much control does Mitch have over the KY GOP? do they resent him or do they fully back him and love him?

I find it weird how they had Bunning and Mitch not getting on, if voters in KY want to preserve that they will vote Rand, if they want a poodle and insider they will vote Grayson.

the thing is McConnell spent 21 million on his own Senate race, there is no doubt he has access to funds for his buddy.

An iron grip. The King of the Commonwealth. He runs KY.

Many of the grassroots and conservatives in the state hate him, but the GOP leadership is subservient.

I think that's the idea.

Yeah, and allegedly Karl Rove is working for Grayson :(

so we need to energize the grassroots, do they care or will they just vote how their leaders want?

I also think we need to get digging on trey, not the campaign but people in the state. we need to give him a full examination :)

Not to go offtopic too much; but I fail to see how an honest person could live off the salary paid to my state-level legislators (NJ). I'd barely be able to cover the property taxes alone; unless I took bribes and kickbacks, etc....I'd enjoy an opportunity to run; but can't afford the pay cut.

i've been racking my brain over ways to get this done.
1- reactivate the RP'08 base / grassroots
2- raise his name recognition level with non RP Republicans (should not be too hard these days since they finally want to buy what the Pauls are trying to sell).

Both will lead to an increase in visibility and thus funding.

But only the wealthy are supposed to be elected officials

That's why I don't mind our elected officials making $100k or so. That way anyone in the upper-middle class is able to handle it.

I HATE the GOP establishment! Bunch of old, neocon, corrupt, warmongering, chickenhawk, idiots!

Well that's the thing - running for office is not for everyone. In NH, state house pays $100 per year plus tolls. But it's also not a full-time post. Ideally, you'd want to be self-employed, flexibly employed, unemployed, or retired.
