NO THANKS! :D

Hacks look to clear field for Grayon, and it isn't going to happen. The leave-me-alone-coalition is very happy with our odds for US SENATE!

I see you are in Kentucky, hopefully Rand will win and I can be jealous since I'll still have Mary Landrieu and most likely Vitter, lol.

LOL

State Senate? Not even like a Federal House seat?

Why didn't they just tell him to conduct a write-in campaign for local dogcatcher?

Did the establishment offer to endorse/support him in a state senate race? Just curious...

So basically the Party hacks don't care for competition, democracy or for voters to have a chance to choose their preferred candidate?

It sure sounds like Rand was spot on with his warning/prediction. Their original intent was for Grayson to enter the race, then for Bunning to drop out at the last minute, effectively creating no "primary".

So the question is, can Rand use this and spin it? Is it in his best interests to do so?

All of you should become Precinct Committeemen and help Rand locally. Yes, the GOP is hypocritical, but by definition all politics is political. Respect is hard to earn and sometimes take time.

Changing the party from within is more productive than complaining on the internet.

I am very active in the party.;)

If we could only raise him the funds to be competitive.......

Except that this wasn't "last minute". The filing deadline isn't until January and it was feared that Bunning would wait until then.

Real simple.

Tie Trey Grayson to Mitch McConnell and the other big-government Republicans. Remember McConnell voted for the bailout. Mitch is working behind the scenes to ensure Trey wins. Trey was a former Democrat. The current people who have screwed up the GOP have also hand picked Trey.

I didn't say it was last minute. Rand didn't fall for the original sneaky plan, so they moved onto the backup plan. That is why I specified "Their original intent was".

And your "real simple" plan didn't address my question at all.

If Bunning was really in cahoots with Grayson and conspiring to create a no primary situation, I think he would have at least endorsed Grayson after dropping out.

Source? Names? Context?

Depending on lots of questions (where I don't know the answer), it should not be dismissed. What is his name ID statewide? Polling? Funding? Details of the state senate race (contested primary? open seat? R-leaning? etc.)?

In short, and I'm not saying this is true, *if* he would be likely to win the state senate seat *and* would be unlikely to win the Republican senate primary, he should go for it. It is way too early to answer that question now.

Open seats don't come along that often...

Hell, I could win the State Senate seat...:p

Don't know KY rules, but in Ohio we term limit pretty much everyone so they come up regularly, and then there is a big game of musical chairs. Winning a state senate seat for a first time candidate (this would be Rand's first time, right? :o), isn't a bad way to start a political career.

And let's not doubt that Mitch is ruthless. Unnecessarily antagonizing him is not a smart.
