The biker lobby is incredibly influential in this state. For example, they defeated a law requiring bikers to wear helmets a few years back, whereas a law forcing motorists to wear seat belts didn't have nearly as much trouble.

Additionally, I believe some of them were used as Sgts. at Arms in the Republican conventions, and some prominent bikers are also CFL people.
