PA trooper fatally shoots pregnant wife in the head while cleaning his gun

A jury was unable to reach a verdict on a manslaughter charge against Carlile. He was fired in the spring of 2013, but the Marysville Police Officers Association won a grievance case to have him reinstated.

If it had been a mundane it would have been an easy guilty, but that jury probably had Friends of cops, Family of cops, Apologists of cops or City workers.

Run a brush down the bore , wipe it off , little light oil on the inside of the slide .Done . You would have to run a helluva lot of ammo through a modern semi auto to need to clean it , it is not like a shotgun or an M 16. My shotguns are flawless , get cleaned every time used .My .22 , .30 etc rifles , I rarely clean them other than to wipe a light coat of oil on the exterior to shed rain .My semi auto is spotless, probably cleaned it once or twice the past ten years , maybe had 50 rounds ran through it since the barrel was cleaned , you cannot even tell .

Did you notice the wording in the title? "Fired Cop Whose Gun Killed Daughter Is Back On Job". The gun did it, he was just an innocent bystander, or maybe even a victim of the vicious gun. They'll have to put the gun down, figuratively.

his gun was sent out for better training. Good to go.

Probably just wiping (licking?) doughnut frosting off the trigger.

either that or she had just told him the kid was not his and he sought revenge?

It's also possible that he didn't want children, period, and decided on this horrific "solution".

He shouldn't be a cop if he doesn't know how to properly unload and clean his weapon.

Bingo! I guess he must've missed all of the firearm safety classes in addition to failing to clear out his weapon prior to cleaning

How do people not know their if their fucking gun is not loaded? Every time I pick up a firearm the first thing I do is check the chamber. Even if I am 100% sure the thing is unloaded I still do it.

I was taught that as a small child, It was reinforced by every gun handling course I have ever taken (high school, Military)

It is common practice on any/every range.

I suspect the man is lying.

Yep , just habit .

“The baby never had its own breathing or heartbeat,” Montgomery County Coroner Walter Hofman explained.

Fetal development fail. They can monitor for that at seven weeks gestation.

Something's is not right with this, he should have known better, cleaning without checking chamber first. ODD

this was an accident...
