I despise that insinuation that RP won't or can't earn the GOP nomination outright to be
held at the Tampa Bay St. Pete Times Forum (Home of the Tampa Bay Lightning)
the week of August 27, 2012 . . .

Yeah, start booking the hotels - let's own Tampa Bay St. Petersburg the week of August 27, 2012

We have a very organized and motivated group in the bay area. We will DOMINATE the bay area during this time.

Imagine if all the people that showed up to the Straw Poll the other day were to be delegates :D

Rumor is that the RNC has booked up every hotel within 100 miles to prevent another Rally for the Republic type of event.

i can tell you they are already planning for 15,000 protesters at the convention. We ready :P

That is the most important part! I hope we have done well to instill the importance of Delegates. Truthfully, we probably haven't done the best job we could have.

But there's still time left.

No way. There's probably 100k hotel rooms within 100 miles of Tampa. They had better have booked the entirety of Disney World for that rumor to be true.

I was there last time around. We absolutely owned the park. We had our own air force (literally an airplane flying in circles over St Pete flying a RON PAUL banner) and we had our own Navy (a huge boat with a giant Ron Paul banner across both sides). Not to mention we outnumbered the other candidates "supporters" by about 800 to 50.

...and Paul still didn't get the nomination.

It's not about merely showing up, you have to be a delegate. Learn from 1964 folks, because that was ugly, but not nearly as ugly as 2012 is going to be. Becoming a delegate is of the utmost importance.

What is this about? I am willing to drive.

This IS the National Convention that really decides the nominee -
it is the delegates that are picked from all the primaries from New Hampshire on forward,
and the complicated caucus processes like Iowa and Nevada.

If their is not enough of delegates for any candidate on the first ballot, then
the delegates are no longer bound to vote for the allotment selected from the primaries,
and it becomes a wide open convention for the second and any subsequent ballots until the nominee is chosen.

Usually the nominee, in this case it will be Ron Paul - after they have been officially nominated
lets the delegates know who he'd like as a VP, and they often/always go along with that selection.

The GOP platform is also established, and this is when the General Election in November really starts.

Absolutely True... there's some good documentary with video footage of a convention in the 1950's and how the establishment crony thugs sabotaged delegates, raided rallies on the floor, and keeping the people representatives from making it to the vote/nomination. Sabotage is a good word on it for now.

Nevada 2008 experienced this first hand with the NVGOP party leaders killing the delegate brokered ballot box, and hiding the votes, adjourning the convention, and giving the delegates to John McCain. A year later the ballot box was found and all 3 state delegates were for RON PAUL. Sue Lowden, was the trash that caused the lost of delegates going to Ron Paul

Tarkanian is the newly anointed Chairwoman of the Nevada Republican Party. Fully 100% establishment hack who's family is full of liberal democrats, and supported Harry Reid Senate run after Danny Tarkanian lost in the primary to Sharron Angle. It so corrupt in Vegas now.

EXPECT and PREPARE for the WORSE possible scenarios... because they will surface somewhere along the road to the WHITE HOUSE.

This is the singular most important event of the primaries. It's the end game. The delegates that go to this convention choose the GOP nominee for president. The first round of ballots are cast, and the delegates vote for their nominee their state selected. If nobody has more than 50% of the delegates, then we have what's called a 'brokered convention, and then the voting is wide open and the delegates can vote for whomever they like.

That's why we have to get Ron Paul supporters selected to be delegates from their states to the national convention. Ron Paul doesn't even have to win your state. You need to show up to your STATE convention, and get elected there to be a delegate to the national convention.

In a caucus state like Iowa, that means you need to go to your LOCAL CAUCUS, and get elected THERE to be a delegate to the STATE convention. Get it?

Step 1 - Go to your caucus, get elected by the attendees as a delegate to the state convention
Step 2 - Go to the state convention as a delegate, and get elected as a delegate to the national convention
Step 3 - Profit.

I don't know how national delegates are selected in primary states. I assume primary states have a state convention as well, but no idea how you get to show up to that.
