(Owner ok'd) Hijack @ DailyPaul.com, Thread's Been Blocked:"This is Official Write-In..

Well, a couple months ago, he strategically changed the name and branding so that it's Daily P Au L (Peace Gold Love/Liberty), and took down the Ron Paul graphic. He doesn't want the site to be exclusively Ron Paul, and even during the primaries had a fair amount of tolerance for the Garys posting their stuff on the site.

Educated guess -> I don't think they are making much from the ads- it is the subscription model that keeps the site going. I would guess that wherever his subscriber base leans is what will get the most amount of play, with regards to content. Forums get a lot of traffic, but are generally hard to make (direct) money off of without a subscription model.

On buying the site - don't be surprised if he asks a low 6 figures for it, and may not be open to selling it without knowing what the new owners would do with it.

From what I've read here, it sounds like turning it into a Gary Johnson site would be acceptable. I'm not sure what else could be done with it that would be both offensive and profitable.

I don't think it would be worth anything as a Johnson site after the election, would it?

I sure hope not and I'll be a Johnson voter. I worry that he will continue to divide us after this election.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but Johnson was asked what he would do if he lost, and he said 'run again in 2016'. I don't know if he has a personal following, though.

I don't suppose. I'm sure Gary Johnson will disappear from the landscape long before Ron Paul does. But if the site owner is content to let the site die, he may not care what happens to it after a sale. I'm just making wild guesses here. When people put future conditions on a website sale, they are usually that the site will continue the same purpose. (or at least not turn counter to the purpose after sale) Seems the purpose is getting less clear and losing the base users of the site will just make it worth less and less.

That's what I'm worried about. He's not good enough and continuing to run for president will only divide us.

If we get someone good in the future that person may unite us. But it will take someone like Ron Paul, imho.

I think most of us will agree that Gary Johnson is better than Bob Barr, so it seems the LP is moving in the right direction. But after jumping off a cliff like that, they have a lot of climbing to do.

I don't think they are moving in the right direction, they seem still to look at ad hoc positions not principled coherence leading to predictable conclusions. Badnarak (sp?), Brown, Nolan... Ruwart..... people like that would be moving in the right direction.

Looks to me like they are hijacking Paul's name rather than the site itself.

Yes, I wish that they would be honest and just change the name of the site. I ended my account there and would much rather give this site my clicks. The mods over there banned some of the best and brightest RP supporters for no apparent reason and with no explanation. They leave disinfo types with multiple accounts, and an obvious agenda to split the movement, run around unchecked. I actually respected Michael for his tolerance, until I realized that it was applied very unevenly. They edit people's posts and leave us to believe that those are the words of the original poster, there is a complaint in the mod box now from someone whose thread was edited to put Rand in a bad light and then placed on the front page. It's fine if they want to chose what to put on the front page, but they shouldn't represent those words as coming from a user who didn't write them. It is also fine if they want to take the site in a different direction, but I do resent the use of the Paul name, even if it was changed to P Au L.
