Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne: "I'm writing in Ron Paul."

let's show this guy some support, let's at least check out overstock.com and try to buy something from there (holidays are coming up)

Fortunately, Overstock is also a good site, has great deals on a bunch of different things and ships promptly in my experience. I learned about them unconnected from Ron, and have shopped there for years.

I keep visiting overstock hoping to replace amazon, but I just find the organization of the site disappointing. It just feels like a site full of a few leftover products, not the robust "we have everything" store like amazon. That said, now with amazon collecting tax in CA, I'm probably going to drop my prime account and try and find more stuff on Overstock.

I do both. You are right that amazon is more 'we have everything', while Overstock is more 'we have deals' which means they sometimes have it and sometimes don't, but they usually have a category if all you want is 'sheets' for example, they may not have 'Ralph Lauren Sea Breeze' sheets that week. (If that is a sheet.) If they have it, the price seems pretty good though, and sometimes it is surprisingly good.

Be sure to buy all your holiday gifts from Overstock, I know I am, at least now after watching that video.

Me too. If they had what I wanted, I'd buy there.

Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne Information

I like that man more and more.

He also runs a website that exposes Wall Street corruption and criminals like Jim Cramer, is the Chairman for Milton Friedman's legacy foundation, and Overstock com is currently suing Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley for financial crimes.

I'll search his history of political contributions to get a better sense of his philosophy, looks like he wants to end the Fed too.

really? very cool! Do you have a link? (although I can probably find it now I know it exists.)

Welcome to the forums!

According to his Wikipedia entry, he is likely mostly in-line with us, but he does have some blemishes on his record including supporting Jon Huntsman for Governor, although he redacted that support later: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_M._Byrne

I don't know who was running against Huntsman. But everyone has a learning curve, and I'm not voting for him, if he has a good website, it's worth taking a look at.

Overall, Byrne seems good. Basically Huntsman pulled the old bait-and-switch on Byrne.

Executives of Overstock.com

2007: Patrick Byrne
"In October [2007] Dr. Paul came to Utah, and he and I visited for an hour in my office. After that meeting, I gave him the largest donation I could under federal law: it is rare to meet a politician who understands the Constitution, and rarer still to meet one who thinks it binds the government meaningfully" (I would give Dr. Paul more were there not now a federal blackout on free speech known as ?McCain-Feingold?). In a television interview last week I stated that, while for the first time in my life I felt there are several candidates qualified to be president, my #1 choicewould be Dr. Paul."

August 2011: Patrick Byrne
"Backed Jon Huntsman once, but never again
In mid-2004, Jon Huntsman, who was running for Utah governor, sat in my Salt Lake City living room and asked about my political beliefs. I only care about one state-level issue, I told him: school choice.
“Vouchers are my main issue, too!” Huntsman replied. “Vouchers are the reason I am running for governor.” He waxed enthusiastically, “I want to go down in history as the voucher governor.” (These are direct quotes, to which I have two witnesses.) On the strength of his display of conviction, I donated $75,000 to Huntsman’s campaign — becoming (I believe) his largest financial backer."

January 2012: Jonathan Johnson
Overstock.com President Jonathan Johnson, who is also joining the “Latter-day Saints for Ron Paul” nationwide coalition.
