The cost per Live answer call or Voicemail call is $0.02. There is no charge for no answers, busy signals, disconnected numbers, etc.

Ok. You already have my $100 to reach 5,000 people, so I hope it works. On previously determined figures, that $5,000 should induce ~70 people to speak to a supporter. It'd be nice to get some feedback from the supporters to get a feel for their "conversion" rate, though as you say, it may not happen immediately, and it's just planting the seeds. Still, that's ~$1.43 per bilateral interaction (plus a bit of name recognition thrown in, effectively providing more benefit, thereby reducing the cost / benefit ratio)


A quick - very rough - comparison with the blimp: ($400,000 per month) / (~$1.43/bilateral interaction) = ~280,000 bilateral interactions (or the equivalent thereof) per month.

What's the equivalent of 280,000 bilateral interactions per month, in terms of name recognition (which the blimp is about)? Answering that will tell us which is better value.

I'm leaning to it being the phone banking as being better value.

Just to confirm, that is a FLAT $0.02 per call, isn't it? Not $0.02 per minute?

Ask your contact about the duration of calls stat. I'd be very surprised if their system didn't tell them that. They should be able to break it down by the second, which would make for a very interesting graph, which could also be used to tweak the message.

To be honest, I had my doubts about this effort... but listening to those example phone calls sold me. Very nice setup, having the option to talk to someone live is brilliant- and the volunteers are doing a great job.

Some key points about Call 4 Paul/Voice Broadcasting

Some key points to know about this effort and Voice Broadcasting in general:

First, due to our relationship with the company, we are only being charged for contacted voters who receive a message and/or talk to a volunteer. In any other circumstance, everything is billable....dials, busy signals, you name it. So we have a helluva deal hooked up here.

Also, with Voice Broadcasting, we can literally dial hundreds of thousands of numbers simultaneously. We don't have time on our side...and this is FAST.

If a voter wants to they can choose to press 1 to speak with a live Ron Paul volunteer supporter. That's very different from a live call from a human. You're not forced to listen to a pitch...you listen if you are interested in the topic, you hang up if you're not. And if you are really interested, you press 1 to speak to someone...it's your choice.
Our system is about to get sweeter...we have another Ron Paul supporter who has an automated mailing system. Our call center volunteers will be able to generate a custom mailing to the voter they are speaking to just by entering the address and clicking a few buttons. Whoosh! Off goes a professional mailing to the voter. Of course we have the sweeeet hook up pricing on that as well.

It's incredible. RP supporters with awesome skills and resources are popping up everywhere and making it all available to the Ron Paul Revolution. I just connected with someone who does large format printing to cloth...we're talking HUGE banners in 4 colors printed on nice sturdy cloth....and of course the hook up pricing again....IMAGINE the possibilities!!

Please support the Call 4 Paul/Message of Freedom Campaign. We could be calling and reaching hundreds of thousands of people every day in key states now...if we had the funds. This could be really powerful. Please spread the word! And contribute.

Getting the Name out is a Big part of it

All the major candidates do this. Even if the person does hang up just so long as they hear "hello blah blah blah this call is from supporters of RON PAUL." They'll at least consider Paul a big time candidate just because they got a phone call. You guys know know how it is.

Yes, we mention Ron Paul's name early and often...even if they don't listen to the whole thing, they still heard that Ron Paul has supporters who are making call for him on their own dime...that's powerful and makes people think and remember the name.

Numbers on Do Not Call List are Scrubbed

I like the idea a lot. Would it be possible to tally the calls that last less than 10 seconds? If so, we could have a list of all the numbers that do not want to be bothered by automatic calls.

We could then call those numbers on a person-to-person basis, not automatic.

Just a thought, anyways

Here's a test message

This is a very interesting campaign.

Before I commit anything, though, I'd like to:
(1) Hear the message. Can you put it on your website, and link to it from here?

(2) See some stats on performance. Give us the nitty gritty. Perhaps some graphs showing individual time listened, and cumulative % of users that lasted a certain time, and that ultimately went through to a supporter.

This would be good if the supporter could strike whilst the iron's hot, by forwarding calls from those willing to donate, to the campaign HQ donation line, or to have someone from there call them straight back to take a donation. HQ would need to ensure that the person went straight through to someone. A hot potential donor like that shouldn't be left in a message queue.

It does need to be improved upon, but it gives a general flavor of what the messages can be like. We are currently working up new messages. Nice thing is we can send a different message for every party affiliation, demographic, region, state...whatever. This one is pretty general. Personally I like to emphasize that this is an independent volunteer effort and not a slick big money political machine effort. I think a potential Ron Paul voter will respond to that.

FAST, CHEAP and GOOD

I'm wondering, though, whether 300-400 warm leads out of 25,000 calls is as good a strike-rate as we should be getting. We have (say) 8% via landline polls, so why only a 1.4% follow-through? Most of that 8% wouldn't *need* to go through to a supporter, so hopefully the 1.4% are all new. Some feedback from the supporters talking to them on the phone would be good. Anyone from the LA meetup reading this able to comment?

And what's happening to the other 98.6% of the people? Are they getting really pissed off? I'd like to see some more metrics, in order to be properly convinced of the efficacy of the procedure.

It's nice to see 100,000 people called, but you never know, it might just be more effective to have supporters just ringing and talking live to everybody.

Now if they could rig it so that the machine did the dialing, and ringing, but immediately flicked to a live supporter as soon as someone live picked up the phone, you'd probably seriously improve the efficiency of a calling campaign.

One of the big differences is we can call hundreds of thousands of numbers simultaneously...and since we don't have a lot of time...that;s a big advantage. It's FAST.

We are only paying for contacted voters...and at the lowest rate possible...it's CHEAP

We are staffed by entusiastic Ron Paul supporters who really care....it's GOOD.
