I agree!

What about collaborating on a phone script while we feed the chip-in?

.... let's get some ideas.... 30-45 sec is not much time...... barely time to bait the hook..... but that's what it comes down to....

having "live" volunteers "standing by" is brilliant.....

how do we get them to stay on the line or "press 4" ..... which is better?
what's a good "hook"?

Here's a script (kinda).. tear it up or improve on it..... let's kick this pig! :)

(male) Hi.... 30 seconds is all we'd like........(female) to tell you about a hope we have for America....

(diff male) You get the sense...... that the country is desperate for someone to show us the way.......not the old way, not the same way..... but a new way.......

(diff male) think about this for a minute...... what if we pull all of our troops out of S. Korea, they been there for 50 years.... tens of thousands of em..... what if we quit worrying about Iran... and realize that it's having a nuclear weapon isn't the end of the world....... what if we pulled all of our troops out of Iraq...... brought em all home........

(diff male) what if we realistically addressed the collapsing dollar and our national debt ......
and payed attention to the huge burden we're placing on generations to come......

(female) Guess who's idea's these are? And you hardly ever hear his name from the main stream media...... I wonder why?
It's Texas Congressman and Presidential Candidate Ron Paul

(male) Ron Paul....... who's raised more than 10 1/2 million dollars from individual donors..... and not Big Money Corporations.

(female) Ron Paul...... who wants to....

(male) Ron Paul..... who will....
So here's the question...... Should more people be listening to what Ron Paul has to say?
If you want, you can stay on the line, and ask questions and hear more from a volunteer who is freely giving of their time to talk to you about Ron Paul.
Thanks for holding a moment.

bump.

I am not handling the "voice" or the "outgoing message" - that is being done by Steven Vincent. If you have suggestions on that, please ping him at www.ronpaulfreedommessage.com

C'mon people. We need to reach people in these states..!!!!! 2 CENTS for a CALL -- YOU CANNOT BEAT THAT!

This is THE best grassroots effort out there. If you don't donate I am going to smack you.

I'm wondering, though, whether 300-400 warm leads out of 25,000 calls is as good a strike-rate as we should be getting. We have (say) 8% via landline polls, so why only a 1.4% follow-through? Most of that 8% wouldn't *need* to go through to a supporter, so hopefully the 1.4% are all new. Some feedback from the supporters talking to them on the phone would be good. Anyone from the LA meetup reading this able to comment?

And what's happening to the other 98.6% of the people? Are they getting really pissed off? I'd like to see some more metrics, in order to be properly convinced of the efficacy of the procedure.

It's nice to see 100,000 people called, but you never know, it might just be more effective to have supporters just ringing and talking live to everybody.

Now if they could rig it so that the machine did the dialing, and ringing, but immediately flicked to a live supporter as soon as someone live picked up the phone, you'd probably seriously improve the efficiency of a calling campaign.

I've called some folks w/the Ron Paul campaign in Iowa for numbers in East Iowa, they refered me to a nice guy in Texas who refered me to a website which has some forms accounts, scripts, but few numbers.

I have an plan that is a departure from this plan, as I spent an hour or so looking for Iowa numbers. I am going to call folks in Clinton Iowa [this is where I grew up] this weekend, Davenport IA next weekend, Des Moines and so forth. I will be very polite, short and to the point, and very respectful of their precious time [on Saturday and Sunday afternoon].

Don't wait for orders from headquarters, the truth is that the Ron Paul campaign staff is TINY TINY TINY TINY TINY TINY TINY compared to Mittens, Ghoul, and so forth. Please [YOU, yes YOU] call Iowans, and please call New Hampshire folks. Cold calling is tough, but when the going gets tough....

If we lose Iowa and New Hampshire, the MSM will be printing large headlines in large bold font that read something like this "SEE RONBOT PAULITE SPAMMER HACKER KOOLAID DRINKING GEEKS IN MOM'S BASEMENT, TOLD YOU SO, YOU HAVE NO CHANCE, NONE, ZERO, IT'S ALL BUT OVER, NICE TRY, BUT IT'S OVER, AMERIKA WANTS BIG GOVERNMENT, YOU LOSE, HA HA" on a daily basis from Jan to Feb 5. You know this is true. So call, call many, call often, and be extremely polite and professional, and if there is no chance with a person, thank them for their valuable time and move on to the next cold call number.

This game is numbers turnout numbers turnout numbers turnout.........

We need 1/2 the delegate votes [overall] to win the Republican nomination. Much of this force stems from Iowa and New Hampshire.

Please call. Be sincere and extremely polite.

God bless.

Derek

Keep in mind its 2 cents a call. Now, also keep in mind that in many of these 'early states' they don't even know who Ron Paul is. So it serves a few purposes..

2 cents, you get name branding, potential click thru, and potential vote. And because the message is short and sweet, it reduces irritation.

I personally do not think anybody gets pissed off to the degree people think. I mean, automated calling is done by all campaigns. You can 'just hang up'. Also, these early states are being ignored so as we hit them, its there first taste.

Calls are only charged if someone answers.
The cost per Live answer call or Voicemail call is $0.02. There is no charge for no answers, busy signals, disconnected numbers, etc.

So the efficacy for a call can't truly be measured - we are only charged IF the message is delivered. We can't determine if they hang up or not, BUT the message is delivered. Also, since the message gives phone and website info, people might choose to look on their own rather than 'press 1' to speak to a live person.

Too many variables to weigh.

Its like placing a Newspaper Ad. How can you possible determine the effectiveness? You can't. People see it, does it move them. Do they turn the page and miss it. Some things you just have to weight the cost/benefit ratio in terms of what you give to what you can potential get.

For me, 2 cents is a small price to pay for getting the "message' out.

I'm in,
but I gotta wait for payday, which is tomorrow.
Not keeping many fed notes around these days!

Bump! Why is everybody not donating? This is a much better use of money than the blimp.

Listen. This is a very effective way to get Ron Paul's name to the masses, and I mean 'targeted' voters ...

Lord Xar, I don't want to cut your wings and I wish you well and me wrong, but when I hear an automated call on anything, I hang up. Most of the calls I made to IA before the 08/11/2007 Straw poll were either junk, or people were not interested and hung up in my face. The joke is, of course, on them, but out of 200 something calls that I made, only 2 people ever expressed an actual interest in a candidate.
