One in three Americans believe police 'routinely lie': survey

(Reuters) - While most Americans approve of the work being done by their local police, nearly a third feel that some officers "routinely lie to serve their own interests," a survey released on Thursday by Reuters and the IPSOS polling organization showed.

The number rises to 45 percent among African-Americans.

The findings come as scrutiny on police has been heightened in recent months by the killing of unarmed blacks by white officers, which has raised questions about police treatment of racial minorities.

While distrust is significant, nearly three-quarters of respondents approve the job done by their local police, the survey said. The survey showed that 56 percent of African-American respondents approved of their local police.

MarQuis McClee, a small-business owner from Bloomington, Indiana, who took part in the poll, said that he generally trusts police and has officers among his relatives, but as an African-American, he can also be wary around law enforcement.

Just the fact that good cops get reprimanded and fired for trying to tell the truth further makes the lying accusations placed upon the other cops justified.

If the actual survey used the word "some", common sense dictates that the poll results should be much higher.

I think this statistic is far too low. It should be at 100%.

Not that every cop lies 100% of the time, there are good cops in existence, such as Oath Keepers. But all of us know that SOME Cops have lied through their teeth, and until they are held accountable and not defended by the Courts who have authorized Cop Lying in Court to obtain evidence, they will continue to Lie as so long as they are able to do so.

Because of the other 2/3rds most have never personally had a negative encounter with the police and think those who have must have brought it on themselves. Sadly most of the people who end up serving on juries fall into the 2/3rd category.

Actually I saw another statistic that said four thirds of people with mild cases of serious brain damage need these types of statistics to be explained to them by qualified proctologists, like Sigmund Freud and Dr. Scholl.
