The GOP is dominated by the old people...

It seemed like 90% of the people at the Caucus I attended, which was quite large, were people all 40+. My wife (24) and I (27) brought our two kids and we were so in the minority that a lot of the old people kept coming up to us saying how proud they were that we were involved basically implying the young people don't care...

Thanks for getting involved! You're right. The GOP isn't called the Grand "OLD" Party fer nothin.

This is why I cringe EVERY TIME the campaign commercials or Ron say they will cut a trillion year one and DON'T point out that Ron's plan does not cut social security, medicare or veteran's benefits. EVERYONE of that age group paid in all their lives with the promise of getting those programs and I don't know one person in that age group who didn't count on it in planning. I know some who are resigned that they might not get it as promised, but none who think it is right, with all the other crap government is paying for.

It seems a lot younger this time compared to 2008.

Excellent. Good to see you coming around.

Who do you want as the new campaign manager who is capable to doing this?

Ahem. I am 40+ and am DEF not old, thank you very much! I expected you to say something more like, you realized how stupid Americans really are.

It's all about the older Republicans. I don't understand why the campaign and way too many people on RPF can't graspe this basic reality.

Grasping it and being able to change the course of it are not the same. There is not a magical wand that can be waved which will make the "old people" turn over 40 years of indoctrination and come to our side. So while "young people won't vote" is true, "old people love GOP big government" is just as true.

Hey! Who are you calling old? ;)

Sadly, youre the one not grasping things. Ever hear the saying, cant teach an old dog new tricks? These older people are set in their ways and are a broken lost cause. Our only real hope is to start over fresh with the youth, and bring them up the RIGHT way and replace the older folks that dont get it, with a new generation of people that have a clue.

This election Im afraid is pretty much a done deal, in the lost cause category. Hopefully enough younger people will be able to take over, and in 15-20 years, we will get our country back. We just need to educate and keep spreading the message of Liberty.

Sadly you don't get that what is happening now is a tremendous waste of resources - just like 2008.

Ultimately I urge you to consider and...

Educating people on colleges does not seem to be the formula elect a president, it may eventually incite something else.

I disagree with the premise because you are assuming we are selling something to the older folks that they have not bought into before. There is little difference between what Paul is talking about and the general conservative mantra that has been pushed for years. What was Reagan talking about in 80 that is substantially different from what Paul is talking about today? Yeah there are some side issues like the gold standard that aren't resonating with voters, but side issues are not going to make or break the campaign. The only problem with the side issues is when the campaign focuses on them more so than the issues that the voters want to hear solutions to. Sure ending the war on drugs is important, but it is not an issue that is going to catapult a candidate to the nomination. Cutting spending my a trillion dollars however is an issue that will.

Limited government, personal responsibility, lower regulation, a strong national defense. This is the same thing every single GOP candidate for years has pushed. The problem as I see it, is that Paul enters into this as an academic rather than as a politician. The simple solution to start winning is to change the delivery of the message. The message and its content are sound, it is the packaging of the message where we are losing out.

40+ (old people). Ouch! That hurts... Lol

Maybe Ron and I could do a 25 mile bike ride with some of you whippersnappers in the humid Texas sun.

While I am not ready to chalk this one up in the loss column quite yet, as we are getting a pretty solid proportion of the delegates in each state -- as in physical delegates not "delegates". All last night did was give me more hope of a brokered convention where Ron would win.

I am loosing hope quickly though. Last night watching voters being interviewed at the caucus site made me vomit a little. They asked a guy who hes voting for and he said "Santorum" why? "Because he is the most conservative." they asked his wife who she's voting for "Romney" why? "Because he is honest." Seriously? They should've just said "we stand for nothing and repeat empty media narratives."

Honestly, you're right: we need some of these old people to die off.

The same idiots who gave us "no chance in hell" McCain because he was a name they recognized are hell bent on giving us another candidate who stands no chance in hell-- Newt. Then you have "must keep up with the johnstons" baby boomers who eat everything the media gives them hook line and sinker.

Then you have some of gen Xer's and the Millennials who can see through the bullshit. We just may have to wait to become the majority of voters... ... and hope that there's still something left.

There's a small window before the terror babies come of voting age -- who will likely buy the govt line again.
