One-Child policy, do you agree with it? China's has had the One-child policy since the end of the 1970's. Vietnam has a two-child policy, and being proposed in the Phililppines. Giveing this trend and the "Green Movement" using global warming/ climate change to pass new laws that really don't do any thing but take away freedoms and rights, I can see how they can push for a One-Child policy or Two-child policy in America.

America does not need this! EVER!!

So what you do you think about it? Do you agree with the Greens and it should be enacted any way?

I do not agree with this.

I'm having like 10 kids!! I'm almost 22, which means I'd better get started... ;)

No.

This just makes it easier for the government to enact 'positive eugenics', which isn't all that positive at all - if Americans are only allowed one child, that child has to be the best of stock.

I take both Genetic and Reproductive Biology courses and the stories I hear from my teachers horrify me and more often then not, I cringe at some of the things they say in class everyday.

Science, when in the hands of the government, is more than often detrimental. Giving the government the power to take away a person's reproductive rights scares the living crap out of me, but I do not doubt we are headed that way. The whole human genome project was overall a positive project, but now people can pay money and get their entire genome, as well as know what diseases they are prone to, and their children are prone to. The government can know that too, and insurance companies, and so on and so forth...

If the government knows you have a high risk of cancer, or high blood pressure, or diabetes, who is to say they will even allow you to have children? I fear in the future many people are going to be forcefully castrated.

How is it working out in China with a couple of generations of only children now? :D Mostly boys BTW, girls are culturally undesirable and aborted. :p

America is not overpopulated, if I remember right our population would be slowly shrinking if it were not for illegal immigrants. The world is not overpopulated. In order for a population just to remain stable, the average amount of births must be around two, and we're lower then that.

Overpopulation is a myth, research it, the only problem we have is mismanagement of resources by government.

China's one child policy lowers the population, it is population control.

This. Besides, like most industrialized countries, we're only breeding kids at approximately replacement rate anyway, and the only reasons our population is even rising are immigration and longer lifespans.

In the '50s I think, a study determined that 150 million people is the optimum population size for the USA. It's just gone downhill faster since then.<IMHO>

Well, China has a billion people. I still don't care, fuck the authoritarians!

They government officials should be put in front of a firing squad.

I share your disagreement. I love kids, and a family that has many children is truly blessed. I just hope our country doesn't become all the more deceived by the Malthusian interpretation of global demography which states the world is overpopulated, and thus, we all should have less or no kids. That is simply a lie from Satan.

Depends on what you believe to be the lesser of two evils: the cancerous growth of mankind, or the government's encroachment on liberty? Human overpopulation is probably one of the most imminent dangers facing our planet, and I've always been torn between basic liberties and the need to constrain its growth.

But I could never sit well knowing that our government is enforcing such tyrannical rules on families. A better way to solve this problem would be to eliminate the welfare state, and then people would simply have to suffer until they wake up and realize that having 7 kids is as stupid and irresponsible as running up a credit card bill on things they don't need.

And as much as I'd like to see having too many kids acknowledged as a form of child abuse, I can't think of any logical way to enforce or determine it without doing further damage.

Rising infant survival rates and standards of living tend to naturally and voluntaily limit family size.

Whatever. Overpopulation is a myth.

I believe "the powers that be" want to drastically cut the numbers of people living on earth, for their own agenda. Fewer people will be easier to control.

I choose smaller population, we're NOT running out of people.

World - TPTB and other sociopaths, would be a very good reduction start.<IMHO>
