One, Big Beautiful Bill (The Mega-Bill)

"Best month" if you're a socialist. Normally an increase in taxes and spending would be considered a bad thing on this website.

And it's not a sustainable surplus because it's from a temporary surge in tax collection, not spending cuts.

I prefer surplus to deficit and debt.

We aren't a socialist country. We are democratic capitalists.

Its definitely sustainable if we keep investing in our own economy and Trump has secured trillions in deals and that will keep growing because we are keeping the 2017 tax cuts permanently so the USA is going to be globally competitive.

You know like the Trump economy we had in 2019 before the pandemic when everyone who was polled said they were better off than they were before the tax cuts.

"let's get the tax cuts and spending reforms increases we can right now!"

FTFY.

The Democrats agree. The GOP "leadership" and "moderates" agree. The MIC, AIPAC, US Chamber, and every other special interest agrees. The Uniparty agrees. Trump truly is the great uniter. Just like Biden was.
That just not true, it reduces spending compared to current levels. Are you crazy? Name a single Democrat that agrees. You can't because they are throwing a massive tantrum about the heartless medicaid cuts.

It doesn't have as much cuts as Rand wants, fine, then let him propose an alternative bill, then when his bill gets zero votes because he is a loser that everyone in the Senate hates, that will be something to hang your hat on.

Politics is about doing the most good with the votes you have right now! Not in some fantasy land future world that doesn't exist. Lower taxes, good 👍, lower spending, good 👍

...

Pure theater. Fake tantrum. The same Democrats that voted with Republicans would (and will) vote for this if Johnson can't get the GOP votes. They did it multiple times with Johnson as Speaker and Biden as President. Nothing happening that Chuck Schumer didn't approve in a back room with Johnson.

This big, bloated bill is hardly different than what would pass if Biden puppet was still President.

If they brought up for a vote the renewal of Trump's tax cuts, it would pass. And if I'm wrong about that, then who are the Republicans who would vote against it? Make them go on the record casting that no vote, not for some big beautiful bill that's packed with all sorts of things they all ran against, but for a standalone bill on those tax cuts.

The whole point of a big beautiful bill is so that they can force Republicans to vote for big spending as a condition for passing these parts they (allegedly) like, and give them political cover for doing it.

And the way Trump is hitching his own wagon to this is going to haunt him. He will be remembered for his sophistry and giving us a plate of feces and calling it a delicious hamburger. You can't have a reputation for being a straight talker and pull stunts like this.

Are you saying that with the passage of this bill, spending in 2026 will be lower than 2025?

If so, can you substantiate that?
Spending doesn't hurt our economy as much when our economy is stronger thats how it becomes less (bad). The economy is more than the sum of its parts.

Our long term investments in next generation technologies that will give us an edge won't be made if energy costs are too high in this country for example.

So it matters how much energy we can buy with our dollars and how much food we can buy with our dollars and that is based on how strong our economy is not how much is spent on government.

That sounds an awful lot like an admission that this bill, if passed, will result in spending in 2026 being higher than it was in 2025.

Without this bill China will win the trade war and the AI war because energy will cost too much.

The amount of revenue our economy will produce will be permanently crippled because you can't do AI without cheap energy costs.

No I'm saying, without this bill spending will be higher than it would be compared to passing the bill. So it is better to pass this bill than do nothing. Also it is better because the tax cuts.

No the point is doing it thru reconciliation. If they did what you propose, separately just the renewal of Trump tax cuts, it would need 60 votes in the Senate and the Democrats will block it, and that would be a massive tax hike.

No it's worse than that.

Without this bill we won't be competing in the 21st century.

It would be like if the government didn't do the Manhattan project in the 20th century and we didnt become nuclear.

AI is bigger than the Manhattan project.

We need to be building more nuclear so we can do AI and we can't do that without making it cost less. We cant compete with other countries without these tax cuts.
